I only bother to own a TV when I am living with someone else. When I am living alone, I don't keep one around.
There are a few programs I enjoy when I do have a TV set, but I can't really say that I miss them when I don't.
In fact, I almost find it annoying at times when my boyfriend has it turned on. I think I really enjoy life a lot more without that irksome squawk-box, .

Yes I threw mine out when george bush was re elected, never did anything better or more freeing in my life.I find I read more and accomplish much more, than I ever did before.Give it a try you just might like it.I find as much news and other diversions on my computer, but i spend much less time than I did when I had "THE DEVIL BOX" LOL Plus I don't have to listen to,or look at those self-important,self centered newsheads.

I put the news on in the morning while I'm getting ready for work so I can catch the weather and traffic reports. Other than that, I don't watch tv.
My life got better in that I lost some weight. Instead of sitting in front of the boob tube eating snacks, I read books like crazy. I can't eat while my hands are busy holding a book!

I gave up watching TV many years ago, and I found more rewarding and interesting things to do with my time. There is actually a pretty large movement regarding how awful television is for our health, our society, our relationships, etc. Check out: http://www.tvturnoff.org/

I gave it up about 3 years ago but my wife still watches it. I became hard of hearing and could not hear it anymore. Yes I think life is better once you find something else to do, I read a lot every night.

I wasn't that much of a TV watcher in the first place
I would think that it would force a person to find something else to do if all of a sudden the TV messed up(that is if it was their main form of entertainment)
