The punishment should fit the crime.....since she is essentially being condemned for name calling, the Sudanese should just call her an ugly fat woman and move on....

Execution has no refutable evidence that it has prevented crime at all and states that have the death penalty have shown no notable decreases in capital crimes.
Why you ask?
The most common capital crime justifying the death penalty in the US is murder. The crime of murder is commited for 3 base reasons.
Cold Blood: This is a no brainer, someone who kills for the thrill of it will not be swayed by the possible consequance, they are so mentally detached that consequance doesn't become an issue
Passion: Crimes of passion are spur of the moment are rarely thought out, these crimes happen at the moment of emotional collapse and as we all know generally the more angry we are the dumber we are.
Pre-Emptive (First Degree) Murder: This has been thought out but the person who commits the crime is so convinced that he or she will not be caught that the death penalty is not a deterrent.

I wait and I wait yet the silence persists. Where is the outrage from all the so called moderate Muslims in the world?
Why, if you find such actions unjust do you not speak? There are over a billion Muslims in the world. Is there even one who will speak out against such atrocities performed in the name of your religion?
Or is moderate Muslim an oxymoron?

Since the time of Rome, public execution was for the inhibition of crime by potential criminals, not the criminal being excuted. So, public executions are needed, not ones for families to get their revenge out on an individual criminal...as you agree.
