When my father passed away in september, my husband and I gained custody of my 15-yr-old twin brothers. We have one child in a booster seat and another due in May, so we're quite desperately in need of a 6 seater, and I really don't want to drive a van or SUV. Are there affordable wagons with 3rd row seating, or another option not occuring to me? Driving 2 vehicles really isn't practical.

Suzuki has something... Station wagon is your only way if you don't want an SUV or mini van.. They have really cute vans though that are roomy and it would be about the same in gas I would assume..

I am so sorry to hear about your loss and what a great sister you are to take them on!

I was at the LA Car Show last weekend and there was a Mazda that wasn't SUV nor van that had a 3rd row. I don't recall the model at all. There may have been a Kia too but I am not certain of that. The Mazdas are not the cheapest cars but they will last you for the long haul because they are being made better and better.

Good luck!

In the UK we have a neat Honda people carrier with two rows of three seats - the FRV. Fiat does the same. The French do a whole range of cheap well equipped good mileage diesel people carriers, they do over 50mpg and carry up to eight, Renault, Citroen etc. There's also the VW Touran, but I expect you are in the US so you won't have as much choice.

you have to choices first is the fiat multipla which has 3 seats up front and 3 behind and reasonable boot space or you have the vauxhall zafira which has seven seats and the third row can fold down for boot space when your not using all the seats and if you get a 1.6 engine size its cheaper on insurance and petrol and pulls a full load with ease

Chrysler Pacifica has a 6 seat option
Ford Freestyle has a 3rd row but it's pretty small if the boys are big.

The simplest thing to do is to go to virtually any car pricing website and narrow your choices to your desires, including price ranges. Then, you'll be armed with info to take to the new car dealer, or even to purchase a used car.

Good luck!
