Gaming lobbyist have been successful in preventing various state lottery bills from even making it out of committee during state assembly sessions. Now it's payback time . . Nevada voters will get to decide if the state gaming tax amount should be raised. A state lottery citizens initiative may be the only successful way to bypass lobbyist and politicians.

I believe Utah does not have one because of a very high Mormon population that is against any form of gambling. I would guess Alabama and Mississippi have no lottery because they are part of the "Bible Belt", and the majority also do not condone gambling. Nevada probably doesn't need one because people can hit up a casino anywhere. Wyoming is likely due to the low population, and Alaska probably doesn't have one because a large portion of the state's population are so isolated. I do not know any of this for sure, I'm simply speculating.

the lottery is a way for a state to raise funds, could be Nevada decided they've got enough other ways and don't need it; could be it was just the final straw on gambling and they said no thanks. probably it seemed a bit of a redundant idea.

Seems correct in my opinion.

Incorrect are the states where gambling is illegal; yet the state runs a lottery.

Because there is gaming here and it would take away from the gaming. We have no state tax for the same reason.
