the problem is they would have to end the war....

pure and simple.

No money = no war....= troops come home.

That being said...

anyone who thinks otherwise should read their history books... that is exactly how the Vietnam war was ended behind the scenes.

Well, I think the most pressing issue, the one we hear about in the media, is that this bill is a stop gap measure because congress can't get a budget approved to allow the country to operate. As such, they have created this bill that, among other things, includes funds to continue to operate the military and the Iraq war. I'm guessing (I haven't read the bill) that it also includes the required funds to operate the government (like the welfare, housing, medicare etc). Rarely is there a stop gap budget measure that isn't holistic. It may just be that they are calling out the "Iraq war funds" in the media because that's where the bulk of the conflict is.
However, if the stop gap isn't approved, all but the most essential services of the government will shut down.

Hope that helps.

I don't quite understand what you are asking. Are you trying to make a statement in the form of a question?

Perhaps you mean what will happen if Georgie's little war is no longer funded by Congress. If so than either the Pentagon will rob other agencies or programs for money including laying off many of their own employees until they can no longer function (stupid move) or they will bring our people home in which case they won't need the money anyway.

Personally I think the Congress should give the President a choice. Sign Schip as written and maybe one or two other progressive bills or no money for his war. This president has got to learn to compromise. If he won't do so willingly he needs to be forced to do so.

By the way Yahoo officers aren't going to see this question unless several people report it. It is all done by computer.

Do the Bushbots realize that the GOP congress under Clinton?
voted to cut off funding for the troops fighting in Kosovo in order to end the war? Yet when they did it, it was not anti-American? But somehow as the Dems are getting ready to do the very same thing if Bush vetos the current bill, it IS anti-American? How very hypocritical of you mindless bushbots. It looks like the only ones that are anti-American are those of you that support putting our troops through the meat grinder in Iraq though you supported cutting the funds off to end that last war.

Wasteful spending on stuff that isn't needed would have to come to an end, ultimately putting the pinch of contractor profits.

When a Marine Corp general wants less of an item than previously mentioned, and senators have a problem with them reducing an order for items with million dollar price tags, you kow something is fishy!

as you can see from some of your responders, Sean Hannity has been successful in selling this to his base that the Democrats will take away the money to protect the troops. Rather than selling them the truth. No money, no war. No war, the troops come home and out of harms way.

If heeding the will of the majority of Americans and ending the war is a problem... then 'voila.'

There will be many soldiers who do not get the supplies they need. DoD contractors will lose jobs there and here, the list goes on.

Then their great lie " we support the troops" would be exposed.
