It's somewhat ironic that when the boot is on the other foot a teacher should be spared the belt for not doing her research or homework into her new adopted country.

Sorry Craig G but one of schools principles is to teach you how to survive in the world and if that means extra homework and research then there really are no excuses for Mrs Gibbons. But lets entertain your thought for a second, so exactly who's fault is it she is banged up?

A pathetic comparison between your school homework and someone's life who is in danger for being accused of something that is of no relevance at all!
We could of course turn your point around...and ask you firstly if you have ever travelled abroad and secondly when you went, did you study the law of that country so that you knew exactly what you needed to do to avoid being arrested?
So come on, every time you go somewhere, do you study the laws beforehand? I think not! And I rest my case!

Many schools forbid corporal punishment for their pupils. And were you "belted" with forty lashes?

I think it's ridiculous for teachers to spank children for not doing homework. A teacher should not hit children unless they've done, or are trying to do, violence to another child.

I do feel sorry for her. It's not her I got a problem with as she was there helping others.
My problem is, if the shoe was on the other foot and a foreigner came over here and done something well against our laws, can you imagine the uproar.
It's their beliefs and that's that.I do think they could have let it slip though.
It's a strange old world isn't it?

If that is the case, then why are people allowed to live in the US without having to learn English? Shall we bet them till their tongues cry out to stop in English?

Because Gibbons did not incite religious hatred, the children made the choice.
Why do they not prosecute the children's religious teachers ?

Shambo babes, it was the muslim children that named ted Mohammed. The parents of those children were those who complained - surely if their religion was that important to them, which of course they claim it is, surely, those children would have been taught from an early age that to use Mohammed's name in vain was a sin!

You clearly already have your only acceptable answer in mind. Thanks for using YA to argue your opinion instead of learn new views.

By the way, I'm Hindu, and could you please not post a image of my sacred animal for your caricature. You didn't do you're research and you're offending me. I suggest next time you use common sense, and learn to respect others, as you expect them to respect you.
