To do a 4 year BSN program OR to go to a community college and then transfer to a 4 year college? Do masters programs even care which route you get your bachellor's degree?

Neither is "better" provided both give you a degree and you pass the RN exams.

Master's programs (MSN) care that 1) you have an RN license from some state 2) you have a regionally accredited bachelor's degree with a fairly high GPA 3) you have some direct care experience.

The problem with going to community college first is that there will be some lost hours in transfer unless you find a program that has an absolute transfer agreement.

The advantage of the community college is that they are usually cheaper. Another advantage to the community college (ASN) is that you can get the RN in two years, start working, and then work on the BSN.
