Personally I find this quite incredible . Not that long ago Murtha went to Iraq and finally fully acknowledged that the surge is quite successful . He added though that the troops should still come home immediately . But now he has made new comments that would baffle anyone . He now says "It's obvious the surge is not working" . WHAT ?

Whether one agrees with the war or not is one thing , but nearly all rational people can see that the surge has been hugely successful . And continues to be .

So I'm wondering . . . . How Do Democrats View Murtha's Completely Contradictory Statements ? ---

BTW , complimentary waffle-irons to all who twist this rather than address the obvious contradiction . I just figured your waffle-irons must be getting worn out lately from so much usage .
Thank you .

Did I actually see someone say Murtha's position changed as facts on the ground changed. You mean he was for it when our troops were dieing enmasse, and now that November had the least amount of US fatalities, Murtha wants to recant his statement....so is Murtha and the Liberals ACTUALLY saying they would rather see bodybags instead of success.
If anything this is a Freudian Slip...as the majority of the US public is uniformed (due in large part to CNN and the Liberal Media) and so therefore haven't the vaguest idea what is really happening in Iraq.
As for your question, the Democrats are pleased with Murtha's statement, as it falls in line with the crap they have been shoving down our throats these past few months and it allows them to pander to the Anti-war crowd. His original comments are what really got their panties in a bunch, as this was not in concert with the Democrat platform. Remember how they pitched a coniption fit at Bush for not sending enough troops in...then, Bush increased the troops, but had to fight tooth and nail with the Libs for it...then it worked, and Murtha saw that it worked...and now they are changing their position again and saying that the surge didn't work and the troops need to come home. Liberals need bodybags, as this substantiates their frail, geriatric platform; while Republicans need Iraq stability and prosperity, as this legitimates their platform. So it only makes sense that the Democrats are pleased with Murtha because it shows solidarity and is more in line with their hopes for increased troop fatalities...as this will ultimately lead to more votes for them.

Iraq citizen's are returning to Baghdad over 300 plus a day. Paid $800 per family and brought in by bus. Although they said they had trouble finding work in Damscus and will leave again if need be> ABC News reports Thursday nite Charles Gibson. Immigrants are coming home because they feel safe.

Senator Mc Cain recenly visited Iraq for Thanksgiving. Al Qaed is moving North. Iran & Syria still provide IED & suicide bombers, yet they are being monitored more successfully. ABC This Week Sunday.

You can go to Iraq newspapers? You can read the numbers for yourselves. 39 service people passed in NOV. Iraq government begs the US to stay? I do not know what papers Democrats read but none conquer with my research. What it does say is that the Democrats can not afford to lose the battle. LOSING the Iraq War supports their political survival. At any cost. Seems many have not been answering these posts last couple days. Or violations and rants. Little debate...Thank you .

It looks like a case of wide spread panic. After all, they said the surge would not work as we watch an amusement park in Baghdad full of kids having fun. That can't be found in the liberal template.

The same way I view any comments by any politican, just more babble of idiots, masking their acts with polished indifference, and contempt for the rule of law,not to mention the contempt they show for the voice of the people, that they routinely ignore.

Did you actually read the article? It said there has been military progress, but the point of the surge was to foster political progress, and there has been none. he is 100% correct. The military progress is pointless if the Iraqis don't get off their azz.
