Its most common to be told early on that you're having a girl and its really a boy. Some times the testes develop a little later than usual. If your ultrasound was before 18 weeks it's pretty common to get a wrong gender.

I have never known it to happen that way, but I have known at least 6 people who were told they were getting a boy and ended up with girls. It must be more common to get it wrong the other way. I had my ultrasound and it said "girl". The tech was not even 100% sure, but he said there were no little boy parts at all. It did turn out to be a girl, Boy was I glad! Believe me, everything was already pink. You can look online for ultrasound pics of boy and girl genitalia and compare them with your own pics. I found that to really help me determine that I also believed it was definately a girl. Congrats and good luck!!

It happened to us. The ultrasound tech told us our first baby was a girl. We bought pink blankets and a little pink snowsuit (we lived in Minnesota, and the due date was in December), friends gave us enough little pink outfits and dresses to outfit an adorable infant army. When we went to the state fair, a woman selling cookies told us she knew we were having a girl, claiming that she was "psychic about these things," and "never wrong."

When Evan was born, we were pretty surprised. He was (and is) all boy.

Yes - that's exactly what my friend was told with her second child. At the 20 week ultrasound they were told it was a girl...they had to have a fetal assessment done at 38 weeks...boy. He's 4.5 years old now.

It's rare but it does happen! Friends of our family had 5 daughters and she was pregnant with what they thought was daughter #6... well they didn't buy much for the baby, with 5 older sisters, and when it was born, they had a boy!!!
They had a lot of shopping to do...

This is why the tech never tells tou its 100 percent a boy or a girl they always say "I am 90 percent it a girl " to save them selves in case wrong it happens

It happens more than people think. Ultrasounds are not 100% accurate.
