For Fun Friday, my class is watching James and the Giant Peach. The class next door doesn't have a TV, so they came over to my classroom to watch the movie too.

All the kids are in second grade. My class is extremely animated. They're laughing at all the funny parts, going "WOW!" when the giant peach shows up and enjoying themselves. Even when they're not making noise, they are smiling silently.

The other class is sitting silently watching the movie. A few times I've heard them giggle and some are smiling a little, but mostly they're kind of stoic and silent.

Is it because they're visitors in my classroom?

It's because none of them feel comfortable. It's a bunch of new kids that they don't know, with a teacher that they don't know. It feels akward. They're young still and don't really know how loud they can be, without getting in trouble. They don't know if you're strict and mean or not.

They're probably a little uncomfortable being in a new place. I know when I was little, I acted alot differently at friends houses than at my own. You could say more reserved and polite, just checking things out. They might also be a little nervous because of the new kids around them.

However, your class is still in their comfort zone.

Maybe. Or because their teacher has a different personality.
Maybe their teacher told them to be quiet and behave during the movie, scaring them.

Its curious isnt it? They might be awed and feel a bit strange in the room, but I dont understand why they are not copying your class who are having a happy, jolly time, is their teacher making them behave too rigidly ??

Maybe their teacher is especially strict with them, or at least more so than you are. Perhaps they are especially well-behaved, but if they're enjoying the movie, that's what matters.

Difference in teacher: Teaching techniques and discipline practices.

Some teachers are fun and some teachers are disciplinarians.

It might be..their teacher prolly gave them the "We're visiting" lecture...Saying "No loud stuff and no being to loud or too noisy...no horseplay" Their just doing what their teachers says to do...Nothing more. Just tell them they are welcome to enjoy the movie and laugh...
