LadySingstheblues,

You should listen to anotherguy. The answer to your question is very simple: People did NOT evolve from monkeys. Both humans and modern monkeys evolved from a common ancestor that we could refer to as "ancient apes". These ancient apes inhabited different environments, and each environment gave rise to genetic changes in that particular population that caused the evolution of many different types of primates, including us.

Evolution is not a goal oriented process... i.e., it is not true that all species are "trying", in some evolutionary sense, to become human. So there is no reason to be alarmed that monkeys are around. They are not any more or less evolved than us, just different. They evolved along a different path then we did from our common ancestor.

Modern monkeys, (and yes, modern fish as well as all modern life) are our cousins, not our ancestors. They and we evolved along different paths, in different directions. It really isn't accurate to say that monkeys or guerrillas are "less evolved" than people are; they just evolved in a different direction.

Evolution is also happening all of the time, it's just too slow for us to perceive. So in a million years or so, maybe there won't be any more monkeys!

Because evolution doesn't always include every single animal in that species.

Cats.
Some evolved to be big game hunters like lions, some evolved to be smaller and tame like housecats.....but they're still all cats.

Same with dogs.
Some evolved to have certain traits more prevelant while others evolved to have different traits more prevelant.

Sorry for the "boring" answer, but it's science.

maybe you should take a science class on evolution. Science doesnot claim monkeys turned into men.
