The nuclear holocaust movie, "The Day After"
It is unique in that where some movies are based on true events, this one seems to be a movie that people are trying to make come true.
Also, "Signs" "M. Night Shyamalan"
We watched it with the kids one night, we made popcorn and alluminum foil "hats", and the kids got really into it. The a friend of mine came by to drop off some software just as the movie was ending at midnight. When he banged on the door, everyone in the house screamed like a little girl, even me!

There are loads of films out there that have made me feel weirded out / disturbed, here are just a few:
Jacob's Ladder, Cannibal Ferox, the 'Hostel' movies, Switchblade Romance, Salo o le 120 giornate di Sodoma, Day of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes (The original, as I haven't watched the remake yet), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Donald Sutherland version), The Wicker Man.
If you want to watch something truly disturbing, but for completely different reasons, I suggest you rent a copy of the documentary: "The Corporation". It makes for sobering viewing!!

Hotel Rwanda Excellent movie. I had a real hard time sleeping after watching this one. It really disturbed me that these people were being slaughtered by their own friends and neighbors and the whole world just watched and did nothing.
Also Super Size Me bothered me a lot. Haven't touched Mickey D's in a looooong time.
Sometimes fact is more disturbing than fiction.

Pier Paolo Pasolini's : Salò (1975), I have never seen it , but I have heard it is THE #1 most disturbing movie ever. It was ban in may countries and is considered a very rare DVD. Caligula and Satyricon are the most disturbing I have seen. I loved Satyricon, I thought Pent House butchered Caligula.

Probably a tie between Tetsuo and Eraserhead. I watched Tetsuo all the way through, and the bit with the industrial drill and what it did to the woman with it will stay with me forever. Concerning Eraserhead, i saw it during what was possibly the worst week of my life and it's the only film i walked out of because it was too much for me. I then went to the bar and the reason that week was so horrible confronted me in it, so it actually got worse. I wish i'd stayed in the cinema now.
I can't believe no-one else has mentioned them. They're notorious.

The most disturbing movie I have seen was "Pretty Baby". The one that had 12 year old Brooke Shields a s child prostitute. I have only watched it once. Anything that depicts a child this way disturbs me (i.e. Lolita).

Hostel either one, The Omen, Exorcism of Emily Rose, and I would have to say 8mm was very dark.

The first Hostel movie was the nastiest, most disturbing and nauseating move I've ever seen... needless to say, I didn't bother going to see the second one...
I saw "Captivity" the other day with my boyfriend... against my will... and it was also disgusting... I can't get the nastiness out of my head...
I don't know why sick *** people make movies like that... it's just giving sickos ideas!!!
