I do remember having an Atari 2600 with GORF on it. (Which is like mix of different Space Invader game types... was pretty good). But earlier than that I had some red, boxy, plug into your TV thing which had 7 variants of pong on it (Yeah, I don't know how they managed 7 either!?). It was that old that everything was selected by switches and you had two built in controllers that were just turn dials. The graphics literally were a black screen with white blocks on it... and now I gotta find out what that was called...?
P.s - Holy crap I'm old! I was kind of shocked when I read that someone's first game was on the Gameboy Color!?

Pong back in 1981 on the Atari.
Elite, tried playing that but I could never even start the game. I couldn't get the space ship to turn at the same rate as the space station to be able to land safely. needless to say after a dosen attempts i quit and played Repton instead
