onability?I have seen people given good paying jobs(both white, black, hispanic & asian) but they just seem to stay in trouble continually. Many of these people just blame their problems on others. When i tell them they need to stayaway from these people who influence them to do wrong its like it goes in one ear & out the other one.I'm trying to be honest with them & i get the feeling they think i'm blameing them but i'm not.I just want to help if i can but they act like they dont even want my help is this in their genes or what?

It might be a combination of those things, but mostly, I think it's conditioning from society & family. It's dificult to break the cycle when you are from a large family & almost everyone of them is in as much or more trouble than you have been. Just telling people to stay away isn't enough. They have to WANT to stay away & make their lives better & most are just not willing to or strong enough to walk out of a bad relationship of any kind without some serious one-on-one counseling to get to the root of the problems that originated from a dysfunctional family environment & so-called "traditions" that were forced on them at an early age.

It's a vicious cycle & once the trouble starts, it's all downhill until the person either dies or experiences a life threatening event that forces them to see the reality of their lives.

The trick is getting these people clean & keeping them that way without getting them hooked on prescription meds, rather than street meds! Until it happens to you, there is no way to know what that person needs to do.

Society needs to find a better way of assisting those in need. Advice from a person who has never been to their level of life is a waste of time & actually makes you look like the bad guy & could make you a target when that twisted individual decides that you are their problem because they can't do what you say they should do.

It's a very different mind set in the world of drugs & crime & shelter living. You sound like a caring individual & that's a good thing. You simply can't put a bandaid on their wounds & think it will heal years of confusion & abuse. It's bigger then that. All you can do is accept them as they are & offer them referral services to shelters, advisors, medical services, & legal aid. If they want help, it's there, but they have to WANT it themselves when THEY have had enough of their lifestyles! Until then, know that there is only so much that one person can do & LISTEN to their stories. They hide a lot under those tough exteriors. Many had it all, then lost it & other never had anything.

It's definitely not genes, that's just absurd!

Despite Eddie M's racist comment above, poverty does breed crime. It has throughout recorded history. If you're not desperate, why would you risk it? I'll admit it, I've stolen stuff before. Nothing big - food, sometimes makeup or toothpaste. I don't feel great about it, but I did it at a time when I was really desperate and had no money. Now that I do have money, I never steal anything. I ask forgiveness everyday for what I have stolen.

Most people don't like doing it - it's risky, and you feel awful when you leave the store. People who steal things like electronics are just being greedy - I don't know why they do that.

They must take personal responsibility for their actions. Not everyone has the same advantages in this world but, everyone doesn't commit crimes and blames it on others. You make it with what you have and do the best you can. Good luck. 2D

It is there own fault they haven't accepted the fact that they need to take responsibility for themselves and their actions. It could also have something to do with their parents.

Poverty breeds crime. As far genes. I don't think its possible to have evil genes.
