Iranian Navy is now to be controlled by the Iranian Republican Guard. With our stance on free and unhindered access to the seas,if the Iranian Navy chooses to "flex their muscles" should we respond as we did during the Iran/Iraq war and obliterate their navy?
I was involved during the last confrontation we had with the Iranian Navy;it was a short battle.

We can bring the entire Iranian military complex to its knees simply by destroying the only oil refinery in Iran and then blockading any ships bringing in processed fuel. They are that vulnerable.

That does not mean that they will back down. As we have seen many times in the past. If there is one consistency among Middle Eastern Tyrants it is that they always overplay their hand. That is the only reason Saddam is no longer in power. If he knew when to fold his hand he would still be there jerking us around. But you can only bluff so many times. Finally, we called his bluff and he had nothing.

Now Iran wants to play the same game. Are they really close to having nukes? They will just keep on playing until they finally go too far for the US or Israel. Once Israel believes they have to attack or perish you know they absolutely will attack. But I doubt Iran will leave anyone much choice. Sooner or later, this president or the next, something will have to give.

Considering that the Gulf of Tonkin Incident led to America waging full scale war against Vietnam, I doubt anything like that would happen with Iran - especially because we don't have the money, men, or materiel to wage another war. If Iran did try to close the Straits of Hormuz we would probably destroy their navy in short order and face a lot more Iranian forces in Iraq.

Another Gulf of Tonkin Incident.....Do you mean another fake incident, in order to promote war? like a school of dolphins gets shot to hell and we call it Iranian attack, so Dick Cheney can get his war chest filled even more?
