Hi,

I'm assuming that &y is really 7y. Therefore, we have:

7y - 3 < 10y + 9

Now, subtract 7y from both sides to get:

-3 < 3y + 9

Next, subtract 9 from both sides of the inequality to get y alone on one side:

-12 < 3y

Now, at this point, we need to get y alone in the inequality by dividing both sides by 3 to get:

FINAL ANSWER

-4 < y

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Sincerely,

Andrew

&y - 3<10y + 9?
Is the & supposed to be a 7 by any chance? If so ..
7y - 3<10y + 9?
You want the y's on the bigger y-side and the numbers on the other side
So subtract 9 from both sides
7y - 12 < 10y
Subtract 7y from both sides
-12 < 3y
- 4 < y

y - 3 < 10y + 9

-y -y

-3 < 9y + 9

-9 -9

-12 < 9 y

-12/9 < y

any number greater than -12/9 will make the inequality true....

-12/9 is -4/3 is 1 1/3 or approx 1.3

Since you seem to be catching a lot of spam because you put in the & by mistake, if that should happen to you again just go to My Questions and pull it up and then hit the Edit button and you can delete the question or even hit the button that says to stop sending me answers.

I'm not familiar with the ampersand as a mathematical symbol. Is that my ignorance, or did you mean to type something else?
