As well as checking it on line, you can also call the 1-800# that's on the back of the card, follow the prompts & enter the card number that's on the back... it will tell you what the remaining available balance is.
Basically, if either/or the online or phone is still showing/telling you that there is a balance on the card, then it SHOULD still be a valiable card. The worst thing that can happen is you get to the checkout and find out that you have to cover the $10 in cash rather than the card.

Depends on who issued the card and in what state. In NYS, yes, gift cards expire. I know that certain types of gift cards issued in California, by law, cannot expire (unless the place goes out of business). I've found that most cards that do expire, expire after 1 year.
Basically, go to Wal-Mart and get some stuff you're going to use anyways.

Funny I just posted a similar question. My $50 American Express Gift card expired. I did not notice it did have a valid thru-date.
Since your WalMart gift card does not have a date it should be good. I have never had a store gift card expire before and I save them for ages.
I won't insult your intelligence by suggesting you call the store :-)

After a certain time, most places charge a monthly fee on a gift card, so while they don't actually expire, the balance would decrease every month even if you didn't use it, and would eventually get to zero. So if you get a gift card, use it as soon as possible.

That is a rip-off. What a waste of money. Always check the expiration date on the card and alert the person recieving the gift of when the card expires so that they use it.

SOME gift cards DO expire, however, I do not believe that ones from Walmart do. Call your local Walmart and ask if you want to know for sure. Good luck!

It depends on the store.
Walmart does not have an expiration date for their cards.
