I need your opinion, the way I think is that drugs should be legalized and controlled by the goverment, they can charge a heavy tax, and use the tax money to cure and feed people in needs. This way I think that drugs would be controlled. And the money would not be going to drugs dealers. Do you agree ?

By charging too heavy a tax...you provide for blackmarket drugs sold as they are now in the streets.
For medical purposes...there are alternatives to marijuana with prescription THC already on the market.
For taxpayers purposes...allowing the use of addictive drugs creates a burden on the medical system having to treat for overdoses.
To say there isn't anything wrong with this drug or that...it's not always the drug itself that provides a problematic issue but the environment produced by the activity.
I'd venture to say there are a few on here that have incurred a problem or two getting ripped off, assaulted, robbed, or otherwise when a drug deal went bad.
My personal opinion is that if one has to get high on dope to enjoy life...their lifestyle is questionable at least!
"Shamieya"...despite the typical "thumbs down" votes from those who oppose your views on here...you've nailed down some serious issues that would be the result of legalization of many of the drugs.
To illegalize ALL drugs, as one has said, would prevent some very good pain medications currently used medically. I'd hate to see someone having surgery without the ability to use good drugs to anesthetize a patient.

I'll tell you the biggest opposers of legalized drugs... The drug dealers! If the didn't have the market cornered, and the goverment was handing it out, they would be out of business. With all the money the drug dealers bring in( and I'm not talking about "fast Eddie" on the corner) they are able to lobby against legalized substances. It'll never happen.

What I think is that if they were to legalize the drugs the value of them would go WAY down. The government doesn't want to legalize the because drug trafficing is their biggest money maker and that's why you see all of these illegals here with no problem. They get a free ride because they brought in the drugs. The government won't do that be cause they won't make as much money, they're stupid like that.

Prohibition has never worked.....telling people they cant do something forces it underground. If however certain things are legalized, like weed and prostitution in Amsterdamm the govt can control and regulate as well as make money that would normaly end up in the pockets of drug dealers and pimps. I think it makes sense for the govt to control a trade that is going to take place regardless of its legal status.

yes, and it will not make everyone a drug addict, that doesn't even make sense. Is everyone an alcoholic, no and its legal. The drug violence would be almost non-existent because nobody would have to worry about snitches or getting ripped off because it would be controlled by the government, and the jails would have room for more serious criminals, the only people the addicts are hurting are themselves.

I am NOT a drug user, but I believe they should be legalized. If I am not interfering with the lives of others what right do you or the government have to say what I do on my own private property?
I do not think they should be taxed as it is unfair to tax something because part of society chooses to enjoy it. What if we decided to apply excessive taxes on fast food to tax fat people just because the majority of people think overeating is wrong? Is that fair? Obviously not, and to the same extent there should not be a tax applied only to a portion of society just because what they choose to do is different than the masses, or different than you.

The existence of alternatives is not a logical reason to make anything illegal. There are alternatives to fast food burgers and fries, yet no one is looking to make them illegal?

…a burden that currently exists as well as a burden that is currently far greater to due alcoholism and alcohol related incidents. If the implication is that there will be more addictive drug users, than the answer lies within the medical system…meaning the burden of cost of addictive drug will be raised and clearly stated to be the responsibility of the user. We have a private medical system where excessive costs are often parleyed to end users (such as major surgeries) which would be no different for additive drug treatment (the users pay their own costs/insurance).

Most agree there is a MUCH larger fear of the illegal drug trafficking and those doing the deals with weapons than a user using drugs in his own home. The current illegal environment created by government restrictions creates far more crime than people going to a store to buy drugs. When is the last time you saw an alcohol trade in the street at gunpoint?

Again, this is due to it being an illegal activity. When anything is made illegal, it brings with it an assortment of problems such as being ripped off, robbery, assault, and a number of crimes that go unreported due to victims being unwilling to admit they were in the process of doing something that was illegal themselves.

…which is a valid opinion , but what makes your opinion any greater than anyone else’s? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and should be entitled to live their life how they choose as long as they are not harming others in the process. This is supposed to be a free country after all.

Most "illegal drugs" are already availble in a "legal form" that you can get from almost any doctor . Of course it is not illegal because it is prescribed. Any medication can be harmful if abused...and most often are.
Alchol is much more damaging than weed, drunk drivers kill people every day...how many have been killed by people who are stoned.

We would have a lot less people in prison. I don't know if all drugs should be legalized, but marijana does have some benefical medical purposes and it's a shame people aren't able to use it as a type of medicine.

I believe all drugs should be legal on the condition that when someone steals my stereo to pay for the drug habit their hands should be cut off.
