In politics I see so many narrow minded people that choose only one party and defend it no matter how bad their candidates may be. Then they sling mud at anyone who has a differance of opinion.

Same thing in religion. Have you ever heard some of these people hate talk eachother. It's hyprocracy at the higest level. They preach about love through hate.

This makes me shake my head every time I see this crap. With out counterpoint there is no point in your question. They post their stupid questions and only award points to the people that tell them what they want to hear. I personally only want to hear from those that opose me, this way I can research their opinions and get a better overall perspective on things and issues and then re-evaluate my beliefs. This is know as wisdom and logic. Keep an open mind and expand your horizons or live within the confinds of your own mind.

So back to my original question, why are people so close minded insted of being more open to suggestion?

Kevin H. I see what you are trying to say, but eventually everyone has to make a choice the question is better sooner or later. If you were on trial would you want the jury to make up their mind in the begining of the trial and then have a deaf ear to the rest of it or wait till diliberation?

I don't have an answer, but have noticed it is factual, pretty much worldwide, since written history.
There are certain sections I have to really psyche myself up, just to visit, lol.
It is a shame and worse, I occasionally get caught up in it, myself.
I rewrote an answer three or four times yesterday, lol, finally just deleted it and moved on, due to being so argumentative about it. To add insult to injury, I don't remember what it was, so it couldn't have been THAT important.
Great question.

Maybe this could be simple answer to your question.
Some poeple belive that they are right, and that if you do not agree it has a tangible consequence. Maybe this is why some feel more strongly about an opinion, where the opposite is that others feel that an opinion is wrong and believing otherwise has tangible consquences, when a person feels that the postion of an issue effects the tangible then they will invest more energy in the defense or attack of claim. If they person does not feel that they will be effected in a tangible way then they are outside issue and can asess the claims from both sides with less investment on the outcome because they will not be swayed by the percieved tangible effects. Also on either side of the issue both parties will likely feel that they are open minded and simply look at the evidence and draw their conclusions from that evidence without bias. The problem with bieng overly "open minded" is that often open minded people will not act on an issue because they have no vested interest therefore it is important to make ones mind up about certain things so that when the issues present themselves in a way that can be acted on, one is not faced with the indescesion of an open mind but rather your mind is made up before hand and you can act without thought in the matter. I.E. swerve if a person steps in front of your car.
The sooner the better in the circumstance you present I would hope that the alleged crime for which was on trial would have been deemed a crime pior to my trial.

As the history shows, man always accuse of accepting being wrong. This has 2 effects on man's life: 1. he hardly tast the real freedom &2. some times wrong underestanding mislead him from the right policy. It brought an idea call Seqularisme meaning religion is alwase asided from policy since some religous leader followed wrong strategy. In fact if they put their eyes open this strategy died in the thoughts. This openion also made people confused about if religion is covered all aspects of human's life " Isn't policy a part of our lives?" so as you see man always ignore the reality and think they are right. If they put lexicogrophy aside, we wouldn't have had this question in mind.

They're not, but they play to audiences... and along a narrow road (as to always say, what they believe their audiences WANT to hear, over and over). Keeping to the party line, as it were...

The person that thinks on his own, and seems to oppose always-held and cemented beliefs and speaks their mind, explaining why/debating why and "damning the torpedoes" for their beliefs.. today, is a sad, sad rarity. And I can't see any in the Dems that do that (actually, I had early HOPE for this middle-america guy in Vilsack, before he took some kind of deal to follow Hillary in lockstep)... and just Guiliani and Romney for the GOP that do, but Giuliani can't be trusted as is a real political animal (and gives way too many favors to supporters, etc. for me).

I think it is all wrapped up in the idea of a belief. If you believe something then there is no more questions for you to ask. When you have a belief, it is something that you "know". Beliefs cannot be changed or adapted by definition. So, those who believe in a certain religion don't question themselves or their religion because they believe that they know the "truth". That's why those whom are more religious make horrible philosophers. They cannot question their own beliefs. Talk about those of little faith.

If one is not narrow minded , one stands less chance to be a successful Politician.
The same is true in case of the Priests. All Priests of all religions are very narrow minded and the blind followers of a particular faith praise the egoistic blocked and narrow mindedness of the Priest.
It's simply sad .but, it's true.

God Bless
