No it's not a good gift. She won't be able to play with it, unless u don't mind it being ruined just by the nature of 3 year olds. Plus, there may be small parts she could get in he mouth. I won't click the link, sorry, so I don't know if there are small parts, but there could be eaarings on the doll, shoes, or other small parts.

Holiday barbie is for 6+, fashion fever Barbie dolls are great for young girls and they love to get them. You should see the look on a young girls face when she gets her very own barbie doll. Also never consider a bratz doll for your child a study was done and most of the girls who had bratz wanted to do bad stuff waaay more, the girls who played barbie were much nicer and sweeter. Also the Holiday Barbie outfit is not removable, so for play you should get her a fashion fever barbie or a ballerina barbie. If you are concerend with small parts you can remove the shoes and purse and give them to her when she's a bit older.
You can go here to see the latest and some of the very first barbie commercials: Youtube.com/BarbieCollectors

I have a 3 1/2 year old.....she is getting Barbies for Christmas put not that one. I would want that left in the box and not to be played with and you can't tell a 3 year old that.
She is getting a smart cycle, furberry and a Snoopy-Sno Cone Maker, those were at the top of her list.
Like I said she is getting some Barbie's as well, with the case and etc.
Clothes, socks and such
Games, like Connect Four because she loves playing games.

It is OK if all you want to do is to start a COLLECTION of Holiday Barbies for the child (and make sure that the MOM of the girl knows that -- because these are NOT play with every day dolls) ...
HOWEVER ... if you are looking at something for her that is age appropriate and that she can sleep with, play and drag around with, hug and everything else -- I would go with a big Teddy Bear ... and/or a durable stuffed animal or doll.
REASON: 3 1/2 year old children are VERY rough on their toys -- they bang them on walls/floors, drag them behind them, etc (and I do have a daughter -- so I know what she did at that age!) ... so I would go with an EVERYDAY gift -- and then put aside for the future collection this year's Holiday Barbie for her and add to the collection each year! (But .. again, I caution you to talk to MOM first -- she may not want her daughter to have a collection!)

If she really likes Barbie, then I would say she is not too young for a Holiday Barbie. The real question should be: Are you going to let her get it out of the box and play with it? If not, then you may want to consider something else. Three year olds don't understand the concept of giving them a gift and then putting it on a shelf for them to look at and not touch it. If she wants one, get it, but let her play with it. You could get two, one to play with and one to put up for her Collection when she is older.

The age is displayed right there on that link.. the age recommendation is 6-10 years of age.. so yes, 3 1/2 years old is too young for Barbie. You could always buy it and put it away for her until she is 6 or give it to her Mom to put it away. Best wishes.

I think she is to young! When I was that age I got those, but I always wanted to open the box and play with tham. They are just way to nice! Maybe when she is 5 or 6 years old. I think that American Girl dolls are always a nice gift. I have many friends that still like theirs, but they do not play with them. They are a nice collectible and are not to nice to stay in the box. Keep in mind that they are also educational because of the history it comes with. The books are the part they will like best when they get older.

I think she's too young because a holiday Barbie is more a look at toy than a play with toy. Better to get her a regular Barbie.

It's okay, but there are lots of small pieces on the doll and Barbie is a fake view of a women. I would say a Cabbage Patch Kid doll would be better, both for her age and mind. And a nice story book like Mistletoe Kittens.

I think she is a bit young for it. You know how the Barbie dolls have minuscule shoes and accessories. It might run a risk of chocking. If you want to give her doll go for the bigger baby style ones. I remember my favorite was a blond baby one that opened and closed her eyes automatically (so wonderful in the 1980s). My mum bought it for me when I was 3 and she was my favorite toys until I was 7.
