Others weren't the ones causing problems in your life, it was you all along? Could you face up to it? Or would you deny it and blame others for making you take a searching look at yourself?

Edit- It seems we have many realists here, those who can take responsibility. So why do so many "pass the buck"? All I ever here from people is that it's not their fault, yet everyone else looking on can see otherwise.

I already face all my problems by myself. I hate blaming others. This is a weakness and I consider myself a responsible person. Being responsible makes you smart, strong, dependable, and wise.

I know self delusion is a game all can play, but it does really hurt to admit that my problems stem from my choices that I make. I usually like to pass it off, and fall into the category so many of us live in, "If only this didn't happen to me or if only this DID happen to me, I would then be happy, etc. I think most of us don't like facing who we really are, or if we take a look at ourselves we immediately forget what it is we were looking at and slip into our self delusion again. We are where we are at in life because of choices we made. Not making a choice is also a choice but I'm not going to get started with that discussion. The path of our life requires US walking down it so it is by our own efforts we are arriving here in our current lives. I hate the feeling that I'm wrong. I loathe it. But I also know that you can't always be right or make the best choice, sometimes you make mistakes or bad choices. Even though I would like to blame others, I can't really, can I? So I have had to learn to not gripe about my life, so many are so much worse than I am. I'm alive, I'm fed, clothed and have to learn to be appreciative for what I have and what I have been able to do. I think I'm wandering now so I'll stop.
BTW- Thank you for your emails they have been a big help!

Marty , good question ...
In my experience , I have only grown as a person when I have been forced to face challenges in life & then I have grown more through failure than success !
If we don't learn how to handle failure in a positive sense then we run the risk of making the same dumb mistakes over & over again ....learning NOTHING ! Growth comes from facing reality & dealing with it ...being able to make a decision , whether right or wrong , & learning from that process.
Not accepting personal responsibility for ourselves is a common issue in today's world & unfortunately is a behaviour that is modelled by those who should be leading by example. How often do you hear the blame game being played out ....look at the " blame " industry being promoted by greedy lawyers only too eager to take someone to court & screw them for every last cent because their poor " victim " isn't prepared to accept personal responsibility for some foolish or careless action.
Enough ! Until we collectively are prepared to admit we make stupid mistakes from time to time & live with the results , learning from them , then society as we know it will continue to slide into this morass of self pity & denial .

Stop blaming yourself, this is what real life is about,.. and in real life, we have problems.. you face them, you win,.... you win a whole new set of problems.. :P
no.. whatever the result.. what we gain is more tools to choose more wisely how to solve those and other problems and fix situations.. the key is being open-minded and to not make a big deal of anything.. sht happens and we get over it.. nothing stays the same.. and nothing lasts..
i'd like to give an example, but it's not polite to write it here :)

It can't be, THEY are to blame for all my miseries.
Of course every now and then I contemplate the fact that maybe it's me, and I think that I should look deeper into that. but it is so much more comfortable to be a victim, I'll look into it another day.

mmm I just answered that Q in P&S...I must be seeing double again...
I think we are responsible for the problems in our lives but in moments of weaknesses we do blame the others, knowing deep down inside us that we are the faulty ones.
