My personal experiences may shed some light on this subject.
I retired, at 60, in March 1998.
My 'continued insurance policy' would cost more than my retirement pay, from a major US manufacturer.
I was in the Army, in the mid 1950's to early 1960's. Yes, I have " Veterans Benefits" including hospitalization.
However, there are some conditions the v.a. system does not cover. When I moved to Mexico, about 4 years ago, to acquire herbs to "fight" a brain tumor, that is none responsive to chemo, radiation, and no medications(here in the USA) that will work, my 'supplemental' insurance plan was canceled.
2 years ago, I returned to Texas(yes we are a part of the USA, still) to work in my field of 'expertise'.
In Feb., this year, I had a heart attack, and was transported to the local hospital. NOTE, In an emergency, the V.A. Health Care System, will instruct the ambulance driver E.M.S., to take you to the local hospital. O.K., I received good care in the private hospital, I have Medicare parts A & B, BUT A.& B. medicare DOES NOT PAY THE WHOLE BILL AND THE V.A. SYSTEM DOES NOT - DOES NOT pay $ to private hospitals.
I ended up oweing well over $!0,000.00 to that hospital, and I did not have that much money, readily available !!!
Yes, I was In Texas, about 55 miles to the V.A. hospital, in Houston, BUT I was sent to the private hospital, about 30 miles north of Houston.
There are others, exactly like this !!! Yes, the man in the next bed, at that hospital was, also a veteran, but had NO monetary reserves !!!
I happen to have two (2) honorable discharges, NO criminal record anywhere in the world, and have paid a "BUNCH" of money into the USA Income Tax (EXTORSION) 'System'.
My question to you, and the others, : "IS THAT OTHER HOSPITALISED VETERAN (Viet Nam, 2 tours, air borne), and myself, what you call"UNDESIRABLES"??

Go work in a inner city outpatient pharmacy. 19 year old males who are getting antibiotics for the 4th time in a year for the std's they keep contracting. Illegals who do not speak english getting rx's for acne. Teen agers who are getting expensive rx's for the gunshot wound and not their 1st gun shot wound. The expense for just pyschiatric medication is staggering. In five years I could have counted on 1 hand the number of people who genuinely said thank you we do not know what we would have done without this service. It was far far more common to hear someone bitching on their cell phone about how long they had to wait to get their ibuprofen filled. All of this is paid for by the tax payers in my county. I could go on but I am just getting angry now.

I don't have a problem with helping people who NEED help. I'm glad the elderly, sick, and children don't have to look to you for life saving, medical care. Most decent people don't consider those less fortunate, undesirables.

good question
:) we cant do anything
there are crores of people who are suffering
somewhere in ur heart u have felt pity for these people
goverment should wake up
they should make some efforts to help them
there are thousands of villages in india where people are dying bcoz of no medical treatment
so first the goverment should provide them some facilities
then indivudials should try to contribute in their fund as much as possible

Oh ya lets refuse treatment to the children who come to the hospital with pneumonia or car crash victims just because their family cant pay.
....being sarcastic.....
We have to take care of the poor to some extent.

There will always be undesirables, even if you get rid of all of them now. If you got rid of all of this lower class then in 20 years the new "low class" will be the middle class. eventually you will only have like 3 people left.
the way our society works is that there is always people on top and on the bottom, we should work on changing that, not just getting rid of people who aren't as rich as we'd like them to be.

I don't think it's wise to deny emergency care to anyone. But I am sick and tired of the freeloaders sitting on their perfectly healthy butts and drawing hefty disability checks every month. It's high time someone cleaned up that cesspool. Then give that money to the county hospitals so they can treat and care for the uninsured elderly and the indigent.

We could put them in a coma and use them for medical experiments, kind of a pay as you go sort of health care system. You have cancer,,,, well we will put you in a coma and use your brain stem cells to save Micheal J Fox from Parkinson's because he has money to pay for his medical care and don't care how many babies he has to kill to save his own life.
