because 3 of their losses were by 3 points or fewer, and they played a helluva game vs. the 8-3 steelers. Assuming they finish 0-16, I dont think they should be the 'worst team ever.' The 2001 carolina panthers (1-15) are a candidate, and so are the 1990 (1-15), but I think the worst was the inaugural Tampa Bay Buccaners, who finished 0-14. Every single loss wasnt even close. Are they the worst team ever, and if they are not, who is, and why?

"and that "helluva game vs the 8-3 steelers"
doesn't really count as 'all that impressive'"

When a 0-10 team gives a 7-3 team a run for their money, thats impressive I dont think many people disagree

That Bucs team is definitely up there. So are the Detroit Lions team (I don't remember the years) but they came close to running the table for 0-16. I think the Saints had a few bad years too.

The Dolphins do look like they are capable of running the table though. They've had some unfortunate injuries this season: Ronnie Brown, Trent Green, Jesse Chatman (is a little banged up), Sticky Icky Ricky etc.

well, I believe the Dolphins have lost 6 games by 3 points

and that "helluva game vs the 8-3 steelers"
doesn't really count as 'all that impressive'

but I think you're right
the 0-14/0-26 Bucs were probably the worst team ever
that's why they revamped how expansion teams come into the league

-update-
about the Steelers game, I just meant that the field was probably the reason that game was close
As a Dolphins fan, I doubt it would have been within 2 touchdowns had that been played on actual grass/turf

Its definitly the Cardinals. Many overlook approximately that the Cardinals have been the 1st soccer team EVER. the 1st team with an entire roster. And in that component they have gained a million championship. not great bowl. They gained it on the comparable time because of the fact the meetings have been although seperated and that they only had like 10 communities to compete damaging to. They weren't the whole team...they have been the least worst. The cardinals went 3 right this moment years interior the 1940s with basically a million win. They have been a million-29 in 3 years...i dont have photos from the sport they gained, yet i guarentee it didnt seem tremendously. Cardinals are the WORST. And thats why this is going to likely be soooo plenty extra effective on the comparable time as they win all of it this 365 days :-)

How close the game is doesn't matter. You win or you lose. If the Dolphins don't win a game between now and the end of the season, they are the worst team ever. Maybe I'll even give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are tied with the 0-14 Bucs, but that is the best I'll grant them.

Whoever said Philly has 10000 losses is a genius; I didn't realize they'd been around for over 600 years. The Bucs 0-14 is the worst, but if the Dolphins lose out (keeping my fingers crossed), they have to take the title.

No contest -- the worst football team in history is the Detroit Lions. Have they ever won a Super Bowl? No. How many times in the last 25 years have they made the playoffs? Hmmm...maybe three or four. And no team in the NFL has a worse overall record. Face it, the Lions $UCK, and everyone who has been oohing and aahing over them this year will be eating their words again when they go 8-8, or worse. Same crap, different year...

The thing about the bucs though is that they were a "True" Expansion team.

They had no help from a supplemental draft and had to pick last in the NFL draft.

I remember they actually had Open tryouts

"Regular Joe's" played on that buccaneers team.

So I guess you would have to say they are the worst team ever but lets put an "Asterisk" by it.....lol.

You are right the inaugural Tampa Bay bucs are the worst team ever. Many of those players would have been cut by college teams.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were horrible...they were the worst team ever...the team just sucked.

The Dolphins this year at least played some close games.
