As an improper fraction:
10 / 3

As a mixed fraction:
3 1/3

As a decimal (base 10):
3.333... (where the 3 repeats indefinitely)
........................... _
(Also denoted as 3.3 where there is a bar over the last 3)

As a decimal (base 3):
10.1

As an infinite series:
.. ∞
...Σ ... 3 x 10^-n
n = 0

There are many ways to write the result of 10 divided by 3. All the ways above equate *exactly* to 10 / 3.

However, there are also many ways in which mathematics is not exact. For example you can say that the answer is approximately
≈ 3.333

Sometimes math has to deal with a close approximation rather than an exact value. For example, the exact value of pi is denoted π, but no decimal representation or fractional representation will give you an exact value. Same thing with square roots, for example. √2 is approximately 1.41421 but that isn't the exact value.

So no, mathematics is not an *exact* science, but it is still a very useful tool and one that we as humans rely on daily. But as with any tool it is suitable to some situations and not others. Likewise a screwdriver might not be the best way to drive a nail. There are many other things on this Earth that need to be understood using other tools such as faith, religion, philosphy and the like. Mathematics can't be used for all situations.

3 1/3 IS an exact value. Take 10 pies and divide them among three people. Each get three whole pies and, when the remaining pie is cut into 120-degree slices, each gets one of those. Each person has exactly 3 1/3 pies.

Uh what? 10/3 = 3.33~, which is an exact number. Also representable as 3 and 1/3.
Any value differing from this by some delta is not the same value.

Well you write this as a series. Then it would come down to a formula. Math is actual the only excat science.
