It first started when I was a senior in college and had way too much on my plate. Now I work two jobs. One of them new, and my supervisor doesn't speak very good english and understanding her is imperative to my work performance and getting things done acurately. I noticed yesterday when she started talking that my eye started going crazy. I've also had physical ailments in the past regarding stress. like being super bloated for like a week for absolutley no reason (it wasn't that time of month) and a lump on my eye that the optomotrist said was stress related. What can I do to aleaviate stress? I am always tired. I dont get enough rest. I work out regularly and eat well. Although lately I been craving fast food and I dont normally touch the stuff. Has anyone ever gotten an eye twitch before? This is the only stress symptom I have ever had that has been ongoing. The others came and went once and this is the second time. It flutters enough to be visable at times. serious answers plz

Eye twitches are a common reaction to anxiety - I have had this happen on a few occasions. The worst thing is that the twitches cause even more anxiety because you become self-conscious about the twitching, and the more you notice the twitching, the more it seems to twitch, which creates even more anxiety.

If the twitching is truly anxiety-related, you need to stop focusing on the twitch and focus on the thing that is causing the anxiety and work it out. Try to remember the things you were worrying about when your eye last twitched. Maybe it was self-doubt about your ability to do a good job, maybe you were worrying about your appearance, and maybe just plain doing too many things.

Apart from the emotional side of things, sometimes twitches occur more easily when a person is dehydrated or when they have a deficiency in magnesium. You can try taking a magnesium tablet a couple times a day - maybe with meals, and make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids.

You can also develop some relaxation skills - deep breathing, visualization of relaxing in someplace pleasant, and massaging you neck, face, and scalp to relieve tension.

Yes, this happens to me all the time. Remember that your eyes are directly connected to your brain and stress shows up in them rather quickly. Especially if you aren't getting enough good rest. The other thing is that reading, TV and especially computers are all really hard on your eyes when you're tired. If you are on the computer alot then make sure that the refresh rate on your monitor is set higher, at least 75 Hz.
This is adjusted by going to the Start/ Control Panel/ Display Then click on the monitor tab and select 75 Hz from the drop down list. * This is for an XP operating system. If you need instructions for another op system e-mail me.
I've been studying for some more computer certifications, therefore spending alot more time on my computer and before I remembered to reset my refresh rate my right eye was fluttering alot. Good Luck, I hope this helps and get some rest!

Display monitors must be refreshed many times per second. The refresh rate for a monitor is measured in hertz (Hz) and is also called the vertical frequency, vertical scan rate, frame rate or vertical refresh rate. The old standard for monitor refresh rates was 60Hz, but a new standard developed by VESA sets the refresh rate at 75Hz for monitors displaying resolutions of 640x480 or greater. This means that the monitor redraws the display 75 times per second. The faster the refresh rate, the less the monitor flickers.

It can definitely be stress related. I know from personal experience that when I went through a very stressful experience, my eye twitched all the time. When the stress eased up, so did the twitching. Not to say there may not be other reasons for it as well.

Seriously, you need to see a doctor. When a job gets to stressful, its your health and sanity at stake. Please look into changing where you work. The twitching of your eye muscle is a nerve reaction from your stress. Some people get a reaction in their stomach like nausea and vomiting and others get headaches. You need to see a doctor and importantly you need to have a time out. Go take a break and just get away from it all.
