This is an excellent question!
My personal code:
Everyday I try to make someone feel better. I live my life in a caring spirit. Empathy rules my life. I believe in truth and dealing only in truth. Remembering that everyone has value just because they were born. They don't have to earn it, they just deserve it because they exist.

I have no personal code of ethics, I've thrown them away about twenty years ago and adopted the code of ethics God laid down in the Bible. It took me more than fifteen years to understand just what I had really accepted in faith, and now I seem to have a concrete foundation to what is right and what is wrong and the why of them both.
The code of ethics I have now is based in wisdom that I personally don't have the wit nor wisdom to conceive. It is far superior to anything else I've seen on this blue jewel of a planet God made for us.

Maintain a respectful distance from others. Be cordial by all means. Help them in their hour of need. But don't make the mistake of merging your 'self' with anyone however much you may feel the urge to. It only hurts both sooner or later...

Whatever you do, be it good or bad, comes back to you times three.
Help when it is needed.
Give advise if it is asked for.
Be compassionate.
Speak out against injustice or what I perceive as injustice.
LISTEN! Instead of always flapping my jaw.
If it's fun and it doesn't hurt anyone else, do it.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Pretty much a great quote from the bible. It is so logical, more should follow this rule to the T. then we would be rid of all crimes, wars etc, yes?

Treat others as you wish to be treated. Trust is to be earned. Be polite it reflects well on your upbringing. Do the right thing, always, even if no one is looking. Oppose evil. If you give your word, keep your word.

Live everyday as if it was your last! Treat people with respect....even the ones that try to make you go there. Because when it comes down to it....they don't make or break you.
