While we're all supposed to be tiptoeing around trying not to offend anybody, it's forcing us to treat people differently on the basis of their race or culture - which is exactly what we're not meant to do.

My son, in his last year of primary, will not be taking part in a nativity play this year because it's not considered "inclusive". This really makes me cross.

Quite a few years ago I spent Christmas in Kuwait - which, quite obviously does not celebrate it. In spite of this though, the main shopping centre had some (limited) decorations, and all the Kuwaiti nationals graciously wished us Happy Christmas and were interested to see how we celebrated it.

At no time was there the merest hint that we were disrespecting them by having celebrations in their own country - they looked on with a kind of amused indulgence. Yet we're supposed to believe that anyone from a different religion would be devastated at us celebrating our own festival in our own country.

Utter bollocks.

Sorry - this is supposed to be a question, isn't it. So, who agrees or am I missing the point?

I totally agree with you. I don't know who come up with these stupid rules. I am a muslim myself and have no objections to anyone celebrating their religion. As for Christmas, I quite like the decorations and we have christmas dinner at home on Christmas Day ( not turkey though, we prefer chicken)!!

I am a British citizen and I respect the old traditions as well as the new in this country.

I agree. Political correctness has been taken to an extreme and beyond. Many non-Christians observe the holiday in some way...what idiots thought that "Happy Holidays" levels the playing field? It makes ALL celebrations of the winter season meaningless.

What should we be saying? "Happy non-denominational winter holiday!"

CONGRATS MS MINGER,your added comment turned it into a question so you cannot be violated for the rant. You make some very salient and important points.Visitors to Britain should live by our British law as we have to do in other countries.BUT,the visitors know we are weak and soft,so they make us change our laws to suit them ad infinitum, the race committees who encourage racism to stay in jobs, the pc brigade undermining the British way of life and removing our rights.I,ve heard and seen it all as it slowly and insiduously took over our souls. The British way of life and heritage is a matter of --to keep it you fight for it--to lose it ,you give it away, and that is what you have done.It has nothing to do with religion ,it is weak and pandering goverment.

I agree this is supposed to be a free country and now its turning into a communist one....I think everyone should be allowed to worship as they please and celebrate how they please....seems as if American the land of the free has turned into America the land of almost free...Christians should have equal rights as a satanist ..if you choose not to celebrate Christmas fine by me even God gave free will...anyway i think people should take a stand

I ca understand, people do act and say differently when they are around certain people, but I think that is our own fault, we should have the courage to say what needs to be said when it needs to be said, also I myself don't celebrate the holidays for my own religious reasons.
