My financial situation has changed this year. I now have to live on a much smaller retirement income since I was forced to give up my job. I had earned a very good salary in my former job, so, yes I am feeling much more stressed than normal.
I am 59 now, and I live in a small town. Realistically, I don't think the chances of getting another job with pay anywhere near what I was making, are very good. When I adjust to my new situation, I think my stress will decrease. I'm sure that next Christmas will be much better.
It's always better to concentrate on the real reason for the holiday. Remembering this will help me.

Persnickety is a good word. Personally I'm just tired. At my house, I'm the person who actually has to make Christmas happen, so it's not my favorite time of year. It's expensive, exhausting and full of high expectations, so I'm always glad when it's over. My husband's job is ending soon so this year I don't even know how much I can spend.

Sorry to sound so gloomy. Hope you have a nice holiday.

No holiday preparations going on here. I am just tired. My daughter isnt speaking to me as usual, the last 5 Christmases have been the same. I am sure on a sub conconscious level its bothering me. Common sense tells me it has to be. Antibiotics have worn my out, run me down so everyday is an efffort. I havent given any thought to Christmas at all this year other then I find the hoopdela in the stores really annoying and depressing. But then I only to to the grcoery store occassionally and very rarely to I am fortunate its not in my face all the time.

Sorry this sounds like a real downer, I am okay with it after 5 years one tends to adjust and accept --

I am persnickety (have not heard that in a long time) because of hormones!

I got that out of my system early this season. I'm getting ready to leave on vacation tomorrow and won't be back till 12/12. I got the majority of my duties done so when I come home I won't have much to worry about except baking and wrapping gifts. I can't believe how much better it feels to have the 'hard' part of it done!

No stress here. But I do see it in the people who come in where I work.
