thats wierd that your doctor makes you do that...I never had to do that at my checkups....you should ask, and maybe tell them that you don't think you should have to do it at EVERY visit.

wow, thats really weird to me that everyone else had these things done also...I mean I had it do it like once at the beginning and then after that they never made me do it. My son is 3 months old now...so it was pretty recent that I was pregnant...hmmm....everything was fine though...I don't know why they would check everyone so much for this....For my checkups i would go in, and they would check weight, blood pressure, ask if i was having any pains...then they would check the heartbeat and my blood suger levels (cuz i had gestational diabetes..and even with having that they didn't check my urine at all...hmm....) and that was about it to my appointments.

are you high risk for something they are checking for? I just don't see the need to check every visit you know? I know I didn't get checked and really, my son is healthy...and I had a good pregnancy...apart from the GD....but that is another story! good luck, and try not to mind all of thier poking at you...they are just checking (very well it sounds) the health of your baby.

Like everyone else says - they're checking for protein, sugars, and other things that indicate a problem with pregnancy. Why would I be annoyed at making sure my pregnancy is progressing smoothly? Isn't that the reason I go to the doctor and get prenatal care in the first place?

Its is annoying but its just another sacrifice needed to have a healthy baby. I hate having to pee in cups. Its messy etc. But when I was pregnant they did it to check for protein in and the sugar content of my pee. Do the make you use a little piece of paper like a litmus stick? And if they are looking I would rather be tested for a infection than deal with one after the fact. They are not fun and the antibiotics will most likely make you sick.

I don't take a urine infection test but they do test my glucose levels every visit. it's not a big deal to me because I usually have to go to the bathroom when I get there anyway.

i dont really care for it. it gives me peace of mind since it can be pretty comman for woma to develop urinary tract infections and things like that and by peeing in a cup once a month or every 2 weeks its no biggy because i know im good. i do hate how the cup are so small and that makes you miss and you get pee-pee all over you hand yuck!!!!

Because in pregnancy, you won't have any symptoms... the only problem you might have is frequent urination, but that is normal in pregnancy. I had a urine infection and had no problems at all, if they didn't find out and treated it, i would've gotten kidney infection and loose the baby.

My doctor's do the same test, but I do not get annoyed because on my last visit I had an infection and didn't even know it. Infections aren't good for you nor your baby, so don't look at it as being annoying just look at it as extra precautions to keeping you and your baby safe!

They arent just looking for infections when they test your pee, they are also looking for things like proteins in your urine which can be a big problem.
so I never minded having to pee in the cup. it was only a pain with my second pregnancy having to take my 2yr old twins with me into the bathroom.

No bcos they can find serious complications with your pregnancy through the water samples you provide!! You take loadsa pee's a day so catching one in a tube to make sure your baby is healthy every 4 wks is fine by me!!!

its not just checking for infection its check for blood in your urine and sugar and protein stuff like that and since you are pregnant these things tend to get a little out of hand but bare with it at least your not pregnant with diabetes and asthma, i have to go through getting pricked and poked everytime i go to the doctors but its ok just to make sure that this little bundle of joy in side of me is ok i will go through anything.
