We (in Australia) have a new Prime Minister who has promised to "bring the troops home".....how do you feel ? Do you wish that your President would do likewise?

It might have made sense in year 1...sort of. Even though we all knew 911 and Iraq had very little to do with each other.

But now, to send new bodies over there just so limbs are blown off and young American souls are subjected to the shades of evil that comes from war...it is just senseless.

The Middle Eastern people are not like the South Koreans. No matter how long we stay there, they will never have a system just like the Americans.

Either we get out soon, or we stay there for a long long time to support whatever system eventually evolves there. Also, make sure no Americans in Iraq are above the law...Iraq law.

Our Canadian boys are dying in Afghanistan right now, and I don't like it at all.

Unfortunately OUR Prime Minister wants to INCREASE the troop counts going there instead of bringing them home. I think that's a big mistake.

As to all the other countries who have troops fighting in foreign lands...I wish we could just have ALL of them come home. It seems to me that over 5000 years of open warfare over territory is more than enough. We should be well beyond the need to DO this anymore!!

It makes me so sad . I definitely support the troupes but the war makes me sick. I'm just not sure if it would make it worse here if they all came home. That's the question I wish someone could answer and know this for a fact, but that isn't possible. No one can KNOW for a fact. I was at physical therapy a week ago and next to me doing his knee exercises the same as I was a young Marine probably 20. I asked him what had caused his injury. He said when he was in Iraq a month before that he and some of his fellow Marines were picking up a big machine that weighed 500 lbs and they dropped it and the end of it fell on his leg. He says if he gets his knee back in shape he'll have to go back. I didn't ask him any questions about how it was over there etc as I'm sure he has had to answer that more than once before. I said to him; " thank you so much for going. " He said that's what he went for, for all of us. I turned my head so he wouldn't see the tears.

I agree with karlin santos (above). I am sorry that so many people answered who expressed otherwise. Of course we all want to have the war end as soon as possible and have our young people come home safely. But I think we are at the point in this conflict that we need to stay in there and see it through. It is at a critical point now, where the job is getting done. To pull out would be selfish, short-sighted, and show that our leaders are ignorant of the entirety of world affairs.

Yes because no matter what there will be a religious sect (civil war) taking place. We need to train the Iraqis and get out of there as soon as possible. We can't continue spending billions of dollars on this when we could spend it here on so many better things.

The longer we stay in war, the more people we give reason to hate us. Think about all the people who have lost family members in Iraq, and then think about how you would feel if some country killed your family member (accidental/collateral damage). This is such a big deal because all we are doing is spreading hatred for the US.

And for those who say that Al-queda will take over Iraq, get real. There are so many people who would love to kill Americans living in Pakistan and we do nothing about that. They can't get here. We should focus all that money on our own land and protecting our borders. It makes me sick to think I and everyone else my age will have to pay for this down the road.

This war isn't about terrorism, it's about oil, power and greed. Too bad warfare has changed. If the leaders - Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield - were on their horses and in front leading the troops into battle there would have been no war but instead they get to stay in Washington hiding behind their desks and send innocent young Americans to be shot, mangled and killed.

Yes, bring the troops home! As Bruce Springsteen sings "Who'll be the last to die for a mistake?"

How do we ask someone to sacrifice their life for a mistake? Since George W Bush made the mistake (or was it a lie?) why aren't people from his family in harms way? FDR's children fought in WWII! If you believe in the righteouness of your cause, you should be willing to put your loved ones in harms way.!

I am proud of our soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. I believe that the war in Iraq is really a war for power and control. Everybody knows that oil is power and the Bush administration is a Realist Administration. As realists, the current government wages war to protect its interest and solidify its power. The oil in Iraq is one way of protecting our national interests and securing our place as a hegemon. The emergence of China as a potential hegemon is a threat to our country's interest and we need that oil to protect and prevent china in dominating the world in the near future. If the on-going war in Iraq is indeed a war to secure the future of america and us americans then I am indeed very proud of our troops fighting in Iraq.

On the other hand, I also feel horrible for the hundreds of lives lost in that war. no words and money can compensate for those families who lost a member because of that war.

It frightens and saddens me. I'm very fortunate in that every single person I've known who has gone to fight this war has come home alive and with all extremities intact. So many are not that lucky.

Remember that war takes a toll on more than just the soldiers.

I hate sending our young men and women off to war. My best friend has two sons there now. One is back for his third time.
I support our troops but bring 'em home already. When they get here give them the best treatment our country can offer!
