Now let's get this right, it was the children who named the 'Teddy Bear', NOT the teacher.

I overheard on the radio somebody say it was time to send the S.A.S. to get her out before they behead her.

What do we do now?

That entire scenario is so insane that I really can't comprehend it. You'd think there would be at least one semi reasonable person in that land of idiots.

The US made the right decision to separate Church and State. Religion (and i am actively religious) on the whole corrupts political freedom and obstructs the development of a civilised society.

Sudan like a number of the less developed islamic nations remains trapped under a religious ideology. It prevents the nation from developing.

It is interesting to note that whenever an islamic regime has the upper hand in a conflict, that it greatly resists outside interference in the form of UN peacekeepers (like in Sudan). Yet the moment they are on the losing side, they scream bloody murder for the UN to step in and protect them from Crusaders or Zionists.

The teacher was foolish for being in the Sudan. Nations need to lead themselves out of the dark ages. The west had to. We got rid of the papal influence and rid ourselves of fanatical puritanism.

I'd support the SAS doing a rescue if it became necessary.

It's just a shame Islam is still largely such force for bad in the world rather than a force for good. Give them another few hundred years to realise that fanatacism is a bad thing, and you will see a ME like the west.

Some of the Sunni tribe in Iraq have already seen what a mistake hardline islamic rule is. They are now siding with the coalition against Al Qaeda. It often takes a large dose of negative religious oppression for people to throw it out and become free.

I'd be careful as surely selecting 'Mohammed' as a user name on YA is probably an insult to Islam....

yes it was the kids who named the bear but no parent is gonna call or push for the beheading of their kid.. come on...

anyhow the teacher should have known better.. or asked somebody if it would have been offensive.. I mean ok suppose she lived her - do you think she would have called the bear "JESUS"????

beheading is a bit extreme.. but lets face it she was wrong..
