All right, here's the deal. I was due on the 27th of November. Still no baby. I was just in the shower, and it kinda felt like I had to pee, and rather than just get out of the shower, which has gotten difficult, I just kinda stood there and water came out. It wasn't yellow, which made me wonder if my water had just broken. There wasn't a lot, and it's not still coming out like I keep reading about. The baby hasn't moved much since this happened, and it feels like she's getting ready to fall out whenever I move. Lots of pressure down there, and towards my rear. (I know, TMI, but I wanted to be sure I got everything down in order to get the best advice!) I've only had two contractions since this happened, but my contractions don't hurt. My stomach tightens and it gets really hard to breath, but that's it.
I know that some people are going to yell and say I should be rushing to the hospital, but I'd have to call an ambulance, so I want to be absolutely sure before I go through that...

I called my doctor, and she said, and I quote, "Go to the hospital. Right now."
HOPEFULLY, MY DAUGHTER'S COMING OUT TODAY! Whoo hoo!
By the way, this is baby number two.

It's hard to say, you might be ruptured, you might not.
Call your doc's office. They might have you come to the clinic for a swab test to determine if the fluid is amniotic fluid or not. Or you could have it done at the hospital too.
No need to call an ambulance. There's no emergency, but if you suspect you might be ruptured, you should get checked out. If you are ruptured, the doc will want to know. The longer you are ruptured without labor starting, the chance of infection increases after about 18 hours.
Good luck!

You don't need to rush to the hospital, but if it IS your water, the recommendation is to make sure you get checked out within 12 hours or risk infection. One thing you can do is line your panties with a pad. Lie down or sit and relax for a while, and when you get up to get a drink or something to eat, and you get a little mini gush of fluid, it's likely your water. You MUST keep hydrated because your body will keep producing amniotic fluid until you deliver.
The only other way to tell if it's your bag of waters is getting it checked. The doctor will take a sample of the fluid on a Q-Tip and put it on a slide. If it feathers like a fan and crystalizes under the microscope, it's your amniotic fluid. If it doesn't do that, then it's something else.
I won't yell at you, but you do need to get to the hospital unless you have a midwife that can come to your house. You should have some time, but if it IS your water, then it's likely that your contractions are going to start coming stronger and closer together. From your post, it sounds like your contractions ARE doing that, which means you're in labor. CX don't HAVE to hurt, and for some women, they don't until the very end. CX when you're in labor like this are progressive. Make some phone calls to friends or family or the baby's father and get your butt to the hospital.

It may have. Amniotic fluid constantly replaces itself though so unless baby's head is blocking it, it would continue to spill. Try lying down for a bit, sometimes this allows the fluid to pool inside you so that when you stand up you have a bit of a gush. If the contractions continue, I would go ahead and at least be ready to call as if your water HAS broken things can move VERY fast.
With my third delivery I had a high leak but still remained "stuck" at 6 cm for 11 hours because of a fore-bag that my LITTLE girl couldn't get past. Once the doctor broke that for me I delivered within an hour and a half.
kwfl is correct-labor is not always as intense as many think. With my last TWO pregnancies I had no pain until after 7 cm, just the tightening.

When my water broke, I felt no urge to pee at all---it was a HUGE burst and rush of liquid that soaked my pants and the chair I was sitting on. Sorry to get graphic, but I don't think it was your water that broke so much as I think you just peed in the shower. The contractions are braxton hicks if there is no pain---you're getting close! If your water does in fact break on its own (a lot of times it will have to be done at the hospital) there will be no denying it---trust me! Good luck to you, and congrats!
PS If at any time ther is a bloody show in your undies or when you wipe, you need to call your doctor because that means labor is beginning. Your first baby can be as much as two weeks late---mine was!

My sister in laws friend just had a pinhole when her water broke and it hardly came out it just seemed like she was damp most of the time. It dont always gush out like people think for some wierd reason. Although if you feel it was your water that broke go to the hospital and they will do a few test look in you and see if your water broke, and hook you up to the nonstress test machine and see if you are having contractions. I just did this yesterday to make sure myself. Tehy said if your water breaks and you dont get to the hospital within 24 hours they told me you can get a bad infection from bacteria and it can get into the babies fluid. they give you a shot if this is the case. Just go to be sure though its better to be safe then sorry. Hope this helps.

It's hard to say. I have heard that it's more of a gush and it keeps leaking.
Don't call an ambulance just yet.
But I wanted to let you know that not all women experience contractions.
A friend of mine had her water break and she ended up having to get petosin to start her contractions.
Just monitor yourself and if you start leaking fluid/water and don't experience the contractions you should call your Doctor for advice. He could save you an ambulance trip.
Good luck! You should be having that baby any day now anyways :)

If your not having contractions I would wait and if the fluids arent coming out anymore I wouldnt rush off just yet.
try laying down and then sitting up after a min. this will move the baby away from the cervical opening and if your water has broken it should let some out. if your water broke then you should go ahead and go to the hospital.

before calling the ambulance right away, call your doctor and see what they say and if they want you to go in or not, my water was broke at the hospital so i dont know what its like for your water to actually break on its own while your at home but from what i'm told its a lot that comes out lol... i would def. call your doctor though and tell them about all the lower pains and how your feeling and see what they say and go from there.... & good luck

I can't say that it was or wasn't your water breaking, but I do know that the pressure you are feeling is a sign of being in labor. Wait to call the ambulance until your contractions are 1 minute in length, 4 minutes apart, lasting for an hour. (the 411 rule)

It sounds like it might have. My water broke with 2 of mine and it was a quick gush and then nothing. Start timing the contractions, call the doctor and depending on which pregnancy this is he/she will advise on when to go in. My doc advised me on 5 min with the first one and 8 min with the second. Good luck!
