Most likely no war would've taken place. The other Nazi leaders such as Roem, Goebbels, Goring, Hess, Julius Streicher, etc. most likely would not have pulled off the takeover of Germany

In the aftermath of the Great War, the United States became a "great" power. But the isolationist policies and the failure of the U.S. to become an active member of the League of Nations was one reason that gave rise to Hitler. So some could say that WW2 was a continuation of the same German struggle. By the time America emerged from the isolationist policies of the 1920s it was too late. Hitler had already consolidated his power by the time FDR was inaugurated in 1933.

There would have been another world war anyway. The situation at the close of the first one made it inevitable. Germany was placed in so much debt and so many restrictions, they had very few options in the way of recovering.

The war could have turned out far differently, though.

Hitler was not the military genius that made Germany successful on the battlefield, he was at times the one that held them back. His generals could have performed far better without his interference.

The thing that Hitler did was unite the German people with his charisma. Someone else could have done it as well, maybe not to the same effect or in the same way, but there were other very charismatic Germans at that time.

(For the record: I am German)

I don´t think that it would have made a huge difference because if we look at all the other psychotic military and political figures, a whole, lot of other people could have done similar things to those he did.

Even if one of the trys to kill Hitler during the war would have been successfull some other sick guy would have taken over.

The situation given was far to perfect for eager illminded visionaries.

Would there have been a 2nd WW?

Interesting 'what if'. You have a whole range of things, from perhaps WW2 doesn't happen to someone even worse might have come to power who actually knew what he was doing and might have actually won WW2 and we're all speaking German.

It's a great pity that we can't change history, even when certain people try hard to rewrite history.
No Hitler - no war. Would have been a wonderful world!
