When I woke up today I lieterally couldn't get out of bed. No one was home, so I had to inch myself out. It hurts to stand and walk. I felt like I was having a contraction it lasted for about 45 seconds, give or take, it was not a full minute. The baby is extremely active, the kicks and hits are starting to hurt me (she's in the head down position), so I'm starting to feel them in my ribs and upper stomach. I went to the doctor on Monday, he said everything was fine, and she was at the 45 percential for 30 almost 31 weeks.

My question is, is it normal at this time, to just wake up one day and not be able to move? My doctor is no longer in the office, it is 10:07 here and his office closes on Fridays at 9:30. Otherwise I would be on the phone with him asking, but anyone who's been in a similar situation, or knows what could be happening would be a big help.

icequeen,
lol that's one of the things I'm very worried about, I don't have ANYTHING set up. My baby shower is actually tomorrow. Daddy to be is not in the picture.
I'm 17, and just extremely worried.
My entire family has had preterm labor, but they put me out of the high risk term through tests so on and so forth.
I'm usually home all day alone, until atleast 330 when my brother and sister get home.
I'm just really scared about going into labor and my parents having to leave work, I know it's NEEDED but I'm worried they won't get here in time, which I know probably won't happen. lol.

Thanks everyone. I called the answering service, they paged my doctor and he should be calling back shortly.

Thank you

Yes, its totally normal. All of it. The not being able to move and the very long contraction. Braxton hicks can last for minutes at a time. I had one once that lasted nearly 20 minutes. As for the extreme pain- the more pregnant you get the more your uterus pulls very hard on the muscles and tendons in your belly, sides, ribs and back. When you lay all night and then get up the morning it can cause those muscles and tendons to seize up.

Its extremely painful, but it is normal.

Roll over in bed first. On your back for a minute, then the other side for a couple minutes, and then get out of bed. It'll help relieve those muscles and tendons before you stand.

Your body behaves in so many crazy ways when you are pregnant so it could be normal. I remember feeling like I was having a contractions for a really long time like that. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and resting- that should help. Also, even though your doctor is no longer in for the day there should be an answering service and you can talk to the doctor on call. I would do that just to put your mind at ease. Good luck!

There are several days where it hurt some much to move and walk because it was stretching down there. It was always after I woke up from sleeping or napping and I pretty much have to roll off my bed slowly and sit there for awhile and just rest before I attempted to go to the bathroom. My doctor said this is ok because a lot of stuff is happending down there to get my body ready.

Try to sleep with your cell or house phone next to you in case you can't get up at all and call the the ER or amubulance. At my hospital, there's an RN that is reachable 24/7 so try to call the RN if your doctor is not available.

I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU THAT YES IT S NORMAL. IT SEEMS THAT YOU ARE CARRYING PRETTY BIG. THE BABY IS READY THE ACTIVITY IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS VERY MINIMAL SPACE IN THERE FOR HER. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST CHILD DON'T BE ALARMED BUT YOU MIGHT GIVE BIRTH WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS... YOU MIGHT NOT GO PAST THE 35 WEEK MARK.... ONLY THE BABY KNOWS WHEN IT'S READY AND YOU WILL START GETTING STRONGER CONTRACTIONS AS THE DAYS COME... THE BEST ADVICE IS DO NOT STRAIN TOO MUCH AND START GETTING EVERYTHING READY... FIRST BABIES ARE MUCH MORE UNPREDICTABLE THAN ANY OTHER PREGNANCIES.... BUT YOU AND THE BABY WILL BE FINE... MY FIRST BORN WAS BORN AT 32AND 1/2 WEEKS GESTATION AND HE WEIGHED 5LBS 8 OZ AND DIDN'T HAVE TO STAY LONGER THAN THE 2 DAYS REQUIRED BECAUSE HIS LUNGS WERE FULLY DEVELOPED AD HE HAD GOOD WEIGHT.... GOD BLESS AND CONGRATULATIONS.... BY THE WAY I HAVE GIVEN BIRTH TO 4 STRONG BOYS..... SO YOU'LL BE JUST FINE.... WHEN DADDY TO BE IS HOME TELL HIM TO MASSAGE YOUR FEET AND LEGS SO THAT THE BLOOD CAN CERCULATE ... IT'LL RELIEVE THE PAIN TO YOUR FEET AND LEGS AS WELL AS SOAKING IN A NICE HOT BATH... ;-)

This all sounds normal to me. The aches and pains increase as the weeks in your third trimester go by. Have you considered trying a support garment for pregnancy? Yes, they are funny-looking, but wow can they be a godsend! Prenatal Cradle and Fembrace both make great ones. Or you could try wearing really tight biker shorts. Lots of pregnant ladies have found great support and pain relief with this method.

Hope all goes well for you and your family!

The baby could have been pressing on a nerve and that was causing pain, but you really need to call the answering service for your doctor and ask them, or go to the ER. Better safe than sorry!! Good luck!

Yes, it can be normal.

But always call your doc if you aren't sure. ALL docs have after-hours answering services and will have a nurse or the on-call doctor call you at home, even in the middle of the night or on weekends.
