Me too but I work as a live-in carer and am duty 24/7,virtually the whole year, but at least he's nice to me here! How many people you got to see, some of the community carers round here have 24+ people a day!!! and work 70-90 hours a week to get by(not including travel time). It's ridiculous! What about you and who are you working for?

I work at a bank and I have to work until 2PM on Christmas Eve and I have Christmas day off. My wife is in longterm care and luckily she got Christmas off this year in exchange for working Christmas Eve 3-11. She missed the kid's Christmas morning the last 2 years. So this year is a blessing.

As a stay at home mom with 4 kids...yes I will be working all day on christmas. Washing dishes, washing clothes, cooking meals, giving bathes, dressing the smaller children, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning up after the party. Getting everything for the guests when they come over. There are no days off for those of us that brave the mommy frontier.

I just celebrated one year at my job and am eligible for my first week's vacation. I have been approved to take it from Dec. 21st to Dec. 30th, so I can spend the holidays with my girlfriend and our children.....It's really kinda cool....I feel good about it. I am sorry that you have to work, but it sounds really awesome what you do. You are in a very self-less profession, and I'm sure it doesn't always seem rewarding, but I bet you have a glowing spirit. Thank the heaven's for people like you.
Best Wishes and Happy Holidays!

I wish I were working. I've been unemployed for a few months due to being laid off. Our entire department was disbanded.
I worked in occupation where we worked days, nights, weekends and holidays.
I have worked my share of holidays. In fact one year I worked Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
I remember not being too happy about working holidays, but now being unemployed, I'd be thrilled to work even if I had to work a holiday.
Kudos to you for the type of work you do. It takes a special type of person to do what you do.
Even though you will be working Christmas, I wish you Happy Holidays and God bless you.

Bless you for being there for others on the holiday. While its not much fun for you, the seniors really do appreciate you being there to care for them. I have always had the day off but my daughter in law who is a nurse has often had to work on Christmas Day. For her its doubly bad since its also her birthday.

Yeah me too. But I get paid 3 times as much for half the work so I don't care. Christmas is for kids anyway.

I'm sorry you have to work Christmas day.If it is any consulation the elderly is very lucky to have such a dedicated worker. They will always remember your care and dedication.
I don't have to but only because our store is closed that day.Otherwise I would have to.
