Anyone know some items used in the 1800s? I need to make a commercial. Websites would be much appreciated.

As a woman (and social history buff), the thing that leaps out at me is the flat iron, used to press clothing. It was heated up on the stove (or by the fireplace) and most households owned at least two, since they needed to be reheated periodically.

Other 19th century things that have been replaced are horse-drawn public transit (in the cities, of course), oil lamps for lighting (although they still are handy during a power outage!), outdoor plumbing (read "outhouse"), and pumps rather than faucets in the kitchen sink (if you were lucky enough to have it).

Make a commercial for the "cotton gin!" It was a huge development in helping cotton be processed.

You can get a lot of information on it in various websites.
