Earth's atmosphere spreads about 1600km above us. It's hard to say who discovered it first. But we know that the atmosphere is an essential fact for the existence of living organisms.I think from birth of scientific researches atmosphere must have been discovered.
In modern science scientists has found about the stucture of the atmsophere as ( from the highest level ) Exposphere, Ionosphere, Mesophere and Stratoscope then the Ozone layer after that comes the Troposphere. In studying science it is very helpful from this structure of atmosphere.
