Start at the ignition switch with a test light. If you don't have power on the battery feed into the truck, see if the fusible link at the body terminal is blown. Don't rule out a bad ignition switch.
If it is, there will be a burned spot on the wiring harness.
Don't just replace it, you have a major short or overload present. The fusible link saved you from a fire.
Also note, if nothing works check body grounds....Especially if major engine work has been done.Mechanics frequently leave them off and sooner or later it shows up with a burn out.

With 98's, you can sometimes get the the truck started by banging on the starter with a hammer. If it's the starter, and it's going bad, it'll stick. The banging will un-stick it and get it started maybe once. Check all your battery cables to.

Get the alternator and starter checked AutoZone and Advance Auto do this for free
Check the belt

Run positive wire to starter to see if it turns over. If it does then check the relay switch

your passive security is set turn on the ignition without cranking leave it there 15 muinits ot untill the security light stops flashing
turn it off remove the key wait 15 seconds try to start it now

Now check the battery cable that everyone over looks.They corroded underneath the insulated jacket that you can't see and no power.Just replace it

have you checked the fuses or the relay, if that is fine then take an umbrella and take the wooden handle and tap it against the gas tank it might start the car!
