I believe it is happening, but to what extent we've caused or can effect change is certainly up for debate. The earth goes through normal climate changes on its own.
However, does this mean that we shouldn't use more care when driving or trying to use less energy and trash? Definitely not.

I can't tell you how much I admire your obvious intelligence, candor, balance and objectivity.
I can't tell you that because I DON'T admire such limited intelligence, candor, balance and objectivity.
Burying your head in the sand just because you don't want to sacrifice your gluttonous lifestyle for the sake of this Earth's environment is not a solution to the very real problem of global warming.
I'm going to take a guess and assume that you're a young, urban consumer earning a respectable wage, driving a gas-guzzling SUV, and refusing to REduce, REuse or REcycle just because of your own sloth, arrogance, ignorance and selfishness.
Someday you might actually grow up, get married, and have children. Someday you might start assuming some responsibility for your life choices, especially when your children give you beautiful grandchildren. Someday, when your darling little grand daughter climbs up on your lap and asks, "Grandpa, what did you do to protect us from global warming?" - HOW WILL YOU ANSWER HER???
As she wears a gas mask so she can breathe clean air, and as she can't find enough fresh drinking water, HOW WILL YOU ANSWER HER??
"Well, Honey, I was too busy squandering all of the Earth's resources for my own self-centered indulgences, and I didn't have time to think about you."
"Well, Sweetheart, it wasn't MY fault. It was the government's fault for feeding us all this crap and robbing us of all our hard-earned money."
"Well, Darling, it was Al Gore's fault - not mine!"
You may not 'believe in any of this pollution;, but the facts are all around you if you'll open your eyes and be aware.

Even if it was true, which it's not, we've done more to reduce pollution than is even safe to do. It's time for China and India to stop using so much gas and coal first, right? They are the ones who are using ten times more energy than anyone else, and they are increasing 50% a year to boot.
We have not built a single oil refinery in over 30 years (ditto for nuclear power plant). Electrical powerplants are almost as difficult to build. The main reason for blackouts and brownouts is because of this. We are not allowed to drill for oil in the Gulf, or in Alaska (umm..this is where the oil IS ). We are not allowed to open coal mines. When people say that we pollute too much, my responses are:
1. If we polluted any less, we'd have to ration our electricity and gasoline. Are you willing to turn your heater down to 60 and limit your driving to 30 miles a week?
2. Whine to the turd world. They are the ones polluting the most.
3. We haven't built an evil refinery , power plant, or oil rig in 30 years. What the hell else do you expect. Do we have to tear existing ones down and replace them with redwoods?

The problem with a lying, conniving bunch giving us tax crap is that we no longer believe what they are saying.
The Government have jumped on the bandwagon and are busily pumping us dry based on a natural phenomenon.
They are backed up by well meaning pressure groups of ''hippy'' minded worriers.
So; if there is truth in the Global Warming, I no longer believe it....Government's fault!.
A further side effect is that although I have voted all of my Adult life; I will now no longer cast a vote for any Politician again.

I'm very suspicious as I usually am about them. Some scientists tell us it's nothing to do with the polution that it's the sun or another planet causing it and it's affecting the whole of the milky way. I wouldn't put it past the governments atall!

I agree with you. We hear that global warming is "life threatening" How then, can you put a price on human life? Well, the UN just did, asking for rich countries to pony up 87 billion. That's going to make global warming all right? Its obviously about money. I'm willing to pony up 87 billion but, in return, I want a signed document from every country that they will shut up about this already.

I'll tell you what, come to Western North Carolina and look at the THOUSANDS of dead trees, killed by acid rain form (predominantly) three large coal burning power plants in Tennesssee. Several years ago the governor of North Carolina (A REPUBLICAN REPUBLICAN I repeat REPUBLICAN) took a delegation of people to the Tenn. border and held a news conference to try and emabarrass the Tenn. state govt. into doing something about it.
But I suppose there's a lot of stuff that you will never never ever ever believe, isn't there?
My theory is that narrowmindedness comes from passing head first thru narrow birth canals - was your mom real skinny?

There is no doubt that the climate is changing. Those that deny it are insular and paranoid; you simply cannot deny climate change because it has been a factor since the earth was formed. The only debate is to what extent mankind has caused the change to accellerate.

It sounds as though you are a very well read and open minded individual. Unfortunately, for you it is indeed real and ignorance and inaction will result in horrible situations for many impoverished people around the globe in the near future.
