I don't see a problem with it and use it quite a bit becuse I tend to be a smart *ss and want people to know I am kidding. It has saved my bu*tt many times. It's meant to say something is funny ... what's wrong with that? I know there are sitautions when it gets annoying - like when people use it every other word - but I think it can be just the right thing to add on certain occasions.

Remember, a lot of these abbreviations have been created to make life in the technology age easier. It's much quicker to type "lol" than "hey, you're funny" or "wow, that's too much". If I had to type that all the time I'd end up saying nothing most of the time. I'd much rather let a person know I appreciate their humor or that I am kidding ... by simply saying "lol".

Peace to you ...

It is really not a matter of saying that I like it or don't. More than likely, when you are with someone in person, you wouldn't say, "Oh, that was so witty", or the things you listed. Usually, you would just laugh. that's exactly what LOL is for wireless communication. For the smart a#@*! out there, it keeps us from misinterpreting what they say. Humor is universal, and typing all of that other stuff takes too long.

Well, in the cases where it's used as "*girlish giggle* ohh that's so funny lol " it is quite annoying, but when it's used to express amusement at self, it's nice.

I don't use it too much, but it's just any easy way of expressing laughter, you're right though, it's getting annoying because it is over-used.

I like it! When you use the "word," there is no doubt what the meaning is, is there? And I laugh a lot, so it's great for me to use! lol! ♥
