- through the streets of London protesting about the treatment of this poor teacher JUST as thousands of Muslims marched, screamed and burned British flags when Rushdie was knighted?
Where are all the protests from the peace-loving members of Islam? This is a genuine question: where are they???

Robert C - as I am British and it was my country's flag that was being burned when Muslims protested about Rushdie, and since the Muslim council of Britain is asking for Sharia law to be imposed in Britain, then I rather feel I DO have the right to ask, actually.

Stephen - it's not British laws that have put this poor woman in prison, that's why we're not marching. Though you have a point, I guess we should be!

What is really horrible is that when a teddy bear, pretty much universal symbol of cuddly and cute, is named after their prophet, they give violent whip lashes and imprisonment. But when a terrorist takes on a name of the prophet and causes violence, they either ignore, don't care or praise it. What does that say about how peaceful Islam is?
The real peaceful Muslims should speak out against it, because not all are as violent, but they are obviously voiceless, don't care or agree. Harsh. But reality.

THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION...I AM A BRITISH MUSLIM, HOWEVER, DUE TO MY FOLKS DYING WHEN I WAS A KID, I HAVE NO MUSLIM INFLUENCES/PEOPLE IN MY LIFE. I AM SELF TAUGHT...
There is no such thing as 'moderate muslim' and 'extremist muslim' to a certain extent.
Reason...
Islam is a spiritual religion, which promotes peace. It encourages honesty and is there, like many religion's, to guide people through life and help them to be good people, the best they can be.
Unfortunately, Islam has been used by murderer's and racist's. They attacked America, Madrid, Britain, etc. in the NAME of Islam. It is for us, the people, (muslim, christians, jews, sikhs, etc. Asian's, black's and white's), left behind, to only acknowledge these 'extremist's' as criminal's. Acknowledging their acts as religous acts gives them the so called 'martyr' status they so badly crave and choose to murder and die for.
***
The real cause for today's war's, are so far back in history, everybody has either forgotten or just don't know.
Sadly, SOME young Asian, converted White and black boys, are also unaware of the history, so they suddenly feel they are the victim's as well because they are Muslim's. But it was never a war about religion, land or colour, it was about oil. 9/11 and 7/7 will never and can never be justified, but they are what affects us. The past affected the people who were around then. History is not as important to people as it once was.
Rushdie caused outrage because he did insult Islam, however, real Muslim's are protesting for the teacher, because they know she has been unfairly prosecuted. I do not believe Shariah law says you cannot name a teddy after the prophet.
***
One last thing, when this story first broke, without being rude here. Other than the teacher's family and friends, i did not see a single white/christian person defending her on the news. Only asians and muslims.
***
Edit: The Qu'uran originated from the bible, so i'm guessing both the religions have alot in common.

I firmly believe that the time has come to re-Anglicanise England. The traditional faiths whether Christian or older should be given prominence in all aspects of society - everyone in England should be required to live within an English cultural framework and respect the traditions of the English. I do not believe that I as an Englishman should have to learn multi-culturalism but rather immigrants who should have to learn Englishness. To this end -no I do not want to see the moderate muslims marching through our strewets I would prefer them ,arching through the streets of Khartoum.

In the same way should moderate Russian be marching against the treatment by their government and army of the entire Chechen people? It cuts both ways, and I think you're expecting too much. I'm happy to know that most Muslims (in this country at least) aren't as crazy as to agree with the decision of the Sudanese legal people...

Declare war on the Sudanese if any harm should come to Gillian. Enough is enough,we declare war on everybody else for no apparant reason so here is a good reason .And as the distance isn't that far lets go into Zimbabwe at the same time.
Mind you, I don't know if either country has oil wells so perhaps its not in our financial interest to go that far!

average muslims do not protest interior the east, nor do they protest interior the west! interior the east its a threat they elect to not make and additionally they don't seem to be prepared like the extremists are because of the fact they have not got a tangible reason to manage around! interior the West they don't protest against extremism because of the fact they're human beings, all and sundry in this us of a has guy or woman rights and maximum folk tend to guard their own rights in my opinion not in communities, until that's an argument wherein they're all experiencing mutually! so the sole element you will see American muslims protesting for is their own rights right here in this us of a, like the main appropriate to coach their faith and build places of worship, etc! they only extremism they're fearful approximately is stable right here at domicile and maximum of that extremism comes from precise-wingers that dislike muslims and think of they're attempting to take over!

This is the hole problem within the Islamic religion as I see it. The moderates will not stand up and protest against the fanatical Shara religious nuts.

It is so sad that yet again religion is being used to this end,
I know Muslims who are really nice people but they are scared of others who are more fanatical. lets close the Sudanese embassy and send home all Sudanese lets stop helping them and then see how nasty they are then. It is not the Muslims that are the problem Its the Clerics that teach them hatred.. stupidity ...and intolerance ...all of which the Muslim bible speaks out against... just as the christian bible does

That's a good question. If the moderate Muslims want to take their religion back, they have to speak out. If the radical Muslims have their way, the moderate Muslims will be some of the first ones on the chopping block.

its pretty much a non issue, she got 15 days with time already served she will be out in a week. believe me most Muslims don't support her being thrown in jail but its only extreme Muslims that news focuses on. we still have to respect the laws of foreign countries no matter how trivial.
