Let's face it, humans are the most morbid and savage creatures that walked this earth... All they do is try to hurt another of his kind and kill his fellow human in order for him to gain the upper hand... These are just the basic ideas for it... Everywhere you look there's always violence, crime, pain, suffering and death... And the root cause of it all are humans... Do you think that humans will eventually change? And if they do, is it for the better or for worse?

though it does evolve changing actions and habits, i dont think humans really need to change who they are, they more need to tune into who they are, their spirits, rather then tune outward, to what others tell/show them, stop focusing on what others have done or might do to them etc
i strongly believe the "right path" is within each person, and finding it can be encouraged or discouraged by those around a small child
when children are born into violence, they learn that, and when we as humans worldwide allow any type violence towards children, we are part of the problem, how many countries in this world have made it illegal , in all circumstances, for a parent to hit a child? only one that i know of

You have to realize that those horrible news you hear in the newspapers or on tv or rumors in your neighborhood were just the doings of the lesser form of humans. Those who never attained moral and social evolution so they got stuck to being primitive and savage and brutal. While the rest of the humanity has strove to live up to modern society's norm.

Change is a constant thing anyway, and a 2 edged sword as well. But I don't think there can be anything worse that a man can still do than what has been recorded throughout mankind's history, you name it, cannibalism, war, all the crimes you can think of, it's all been committed since man's days on earth began. But as you can see, you are enjoying the advancement of human civilization to this day, so that means humans have evolved and have changed into better creatures. How many articles does your constitution have to battle the crimes that man committed in the past? That means humans, in general, always take advantage of change for the betterment, because over time humans have learned that it is the only way to preserve themselves, that is, to improve their way of living.

Most people would rather be ruined than changed... For an insight into your question I recommend Flannery O'Connor's story "A Good Man is Hard to Find"-- self interest can only sustain ethics for so long, and then it degenerates into violence, without a sense of human purpose that is rooted in faith in the transcendent, what you describe is humanity's status quo from which there is no escape.

Interesting time we live in!

It can definitely seem to be true that the history of the human species is in large part a history of violence and that violence is the norm in virtually all of nature. There are exceptions of course.

The survival instinct (as one of the basic instincts) drives all species, as most of us view things. This is not likely to change even though we humans seem to have some choice in the matter.

I would suggest that humans will change only when the "will to change" supercedes the basic instincts that drive us.

Can this happen? Certainly.

Will it happen? Not likely without some unusual "external"
motivation.
