My company purchased a large number of these monitors (viewsonic vg2030wm) - but we're having an issue. The only resolution that looks "normal" is 1680 by 1050. However, this resolution is way too high for the majorty of employees here. Every other setting is stretched horizontally or vertically. The correct drivers are installed. We're quite a bit frustrated that only the highest setting looks normal. Is there anything we can do to fix this without having to send dozens of monitors back? Thanks!

The problem is that the monitors have a fixed array of 1680 by 1050 pixels.

Any non-16:10 aspect ratio resolution will look stretched. Any other 16:10 aspect ratio resolution is going to look fuzzy as the monitor scales it up.

Sending the monitors back will not make any difference if you replace then with ones that are the same size and the same resolution. Those will have exactly the same problem. 1680 by 1050 is the standard resolution for a 20" widescreen.

What I would suggest is that you alter the DPI setting of your systems:
Control Panel > Display Properties > Settings Tab > Click on the Advanced button towards the bottom.

It should come up with a window at the General Tab. the top part of the screen has a selection for the DPI. You can try the Large Size (120 DPI) or a custom value. The higher you set the DPI the larger Windows should make fonts.

The other alternative within an application is to hold down the Ctrl button and move the scroll wheel of the mouse up or down to change the size of the font.

The DPI setting should affect everything. Ctrl+scroll wheel will only affect one application.
