Painters tape. It looks like masking tape, but its blue. You can get it anywhere that sells paint and painting supplies. I've found that sometimes its easier to just paint the frames without masking the glass, then just scraping the excess off the glass later. It comes off easily if you do it as soon as the paint is dry and don't leave it on for days.

Screw tape!! All it does is give you a false sense of security. Use a small good quality brush (Purdy) and latex paint. Be as careful as you can using less paint than you would on a wall and even smooth strokes. Hold the brush in your dominate hand up just below the bristles. Lay your index finger on the top for control and gently paint the wood. when it is dry it will easily scrape right off with a razor. I do this all the time and very rarely even have to scrape the glass. Think of it as a piece of art and enjoy it. All tape does is get people to be lazy and sloppy, the paint still bleeds around it.

I rub shortening on the glass. Then paint and let dry. The next day take a water how if it's outside painting and wash your glass witha rag and soap top remove the grease and the windows look very nice. Save time with masking it off with tape.

Blue painters tape is your best bet, and it comes in different widths. The best if your using roller would be two inch width, and with a brush 1 inches will do the trick. Any paint thatdoes get on the window you can scrape off with a razor blade.

I dont tape them at all.. but yet i am 37 year experienced..My uncles that trained us would kill us watching us mask off windows..takes longer to tape them than to paint them...but there is a liquid masker that you can use..paint the wood and dont worry about the excess on the glass..when done it peels right off the glass..There are many different brands of this stuff..and works great..go to any paint store to finsd these products

There is a special painting masking tape you can buy or you can just cut a board to fit into the glass hold in place and paint.
