the answers i got are quite interesting , i dont usualy consider my self to be dull , i am after all on a biomed degree how ever i am a naturally cometative person and when i dont understand somthing that everyone else seems to have the answers to , i feel stupid . it is refreshing to know that some people are so interested in academics and actualy spend time helping some of us out when we are stuck . so thax to anyone who has answerd any one of my questions .

You're kidding right?
99% of the answers on this thing are just plain wrong. Sometimes it's people trying to raise their score as fast as possible and not taking any time to really answer fully. The other half of the time it's people pretending they know more than they do, since nobody knows who they are, or how much experience they really have with the subject matter - heck, I answered a question involving someone's 10 year old child... like I would know anything about raising children!
The other 1% are spot on ... because once in a blue moon you *do* get - like - someone who's spent their entire life fixing cars, telling you what type of motor oil is best, etc.

I have A levels in Pure and Applied Maths taken 37 years ago. I like to exercise my brain. There are some questions that I can't answer or am too tired to think about. I don't like doing home-work for people who are not interested in making any effort. Some questions I can just see the logical steps and the problem is solved in an instant in your brain. The rest is the donkey work of detailing the answer and writing it down. Sometimes by the time you have typed the answer and posted it you find three other people have just beaten you to it so it looks like you are copying them.

I can only "speak" for myself and assume the rest.
It seems to me there are maybe 10 or 12 people that I see regularly answering questions in biology, botany, zoology and a couple other categories, that really know anything. It is not that they get the answer correct, it is also how the answer. No spelling errors or bad grammar. Often these folks will give a reference or two. That not only indicates a certain ability and intellect, but also a good degree of professionalism.
As for myself, yes I am intelligent. I love to learn. I love biology, especially things dealing with wildlife, plants, ecology, evolution, zoology and life in general. Yes I am a professional. Spent most of my professional life as a field biologist.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people that answers questions just to get the lousy 2 points. Unfortunately as well, they are the dominate number. And as well they are not intelligent.
I grade answers often. A lot of these answer get bad grades.

good teachers and an interest in the subjects that drives us to learn about it.
In my personal case, when I answer it is either in response to something I know very well from a long time working in a subject where that knowledge is important, or it is something I know where to find the answer very quickly (when I am not sure of the answer). I actually learn things here too, although I do get tired of the "answer my homework" demands and the people who ask questions that make no sense or show such a profound ignorance of the subject that there is little point in even trying to answer.

that's a vogue that would not prefer to flow away. youthful (somewhat teen) mothers and fathers look those going for greater "unique" names, because's what usa is all approximately, precise? Being a guy or woman. despite the fact that if it means you would be 13 earlier you eventually study the thank you to spell your call properly and you're continuously correcting all and sundry on the thank you to pronounce your call until you eventually supply up and decide to flow by utilising yet another call all mutually... My little ones could have familiar names. I

I have experience on my side. I'm 63 and work with an environmental and civil engineering firm as an Engineering Technician, which includes CAD work and data analysis (statistical stuff - it's really just magic) in addition to field work surveying and inspecting our projects during construction.
I've been around, I guess you could say, and I try to avoid things I know nothing about. Bad advice is worse than no advice.

Don't get spooked. People answer the questions they know something about (or think they do). So, just looking at the answers, it can seem like everybody is very clever. But in truth, there are more people who don't/can't answer most of the questions.
We all have little bits of special knowledge. This is just a forum for sharing it with other people

It's because this is the mathematics section. I can think of some other sections on Yahoo! Answers where the average person answering questions isn't so bright as the group in this section. :)
We also like to think the average person asking questions in this section is brighter than the average person asking in some of the other sections. :)

I'm just good at the subjects I study. It tends to be easier to study a subject that you enjoy and want to learn about.
I'm a PhD Physicist, so tend to be good at logic, maths and so on. I can't do art to save my life.
Just find your own niche in life and take it from there - a bit of hard work never hurt anybody.
