People are different, what offends one might not offend another, it's sweet that people don't want to offend you and sweet that you are not offended easily :o)

First of all, Jesus doesn't make "freaks" out of people, He makes PEOPLE, for-REAL people, HIS people, out of "freaks"! Because WITHOUT HIM, that's ALL we are, ALL of us......clowns on parade in Satan's circus! Sinners desperately in need of THE SAVIOUR! NO ONE is "normal" without being SAVED FROM THEIR SINS BY JESUS CHRIST! The only "normal" people are those who are BORN AGAIN, BORN OF GOD!!! Thank God for grace!!!
But also, I would take issue with using the term "proud of" in reference to ANYTHING in the life of a Christian! I understand what you're trying to convey, that you're "not ashamed" of Jesus and the gospel; but according to SCRIPTURE, that is the wrong way to do so! Reason being: there is no "good" pride in God's word! God HATES pride, period! It's what caused Lucifer to sin and become Satan, and it is THE thing that marks EVERY human being as a sinner!
Jesus said that He is "meek and lowly in heart", and that, as those who are saved by Him and called to follow Him in obedience, we are to "take his yoke upon us and learn of him" (Matthew 11:28-30). I would prefer to say it the way Paul did: "By the grace of God, I am what I am" (1 Corinthians 15:10) And, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:16&17)

Because the term 'freak' denotes blind devotion beyond reason and that seems uncomplimentary to the non-faithful.
