beyond the purely philosophical, our 'purpose' as humans is to reproduce to sustain the species. In that category, I have sired at least four children.
Beyond that, I think we are here to improve ourselves and the human condition. We learn and then we share what we've learned with our children. They in turn take this knowledge and expand upon it yet again and extend the cycle.
After a certain age when your crumb snatchers are grown and off on their own, I think we are offered the opportunity to observe our fellow humans... it's a chance to get into the deeper aspects of life and death, etc.

I am here as my willingness to live, I don't want to make my life worth! It is a destiny that I am alive, and each of human has a purpose of life! I appreciate each second I have, both of bad and good time.
Beside, I live to make my parents happy. I'll have past experience about my life, and I appreciate that I still alive until now, here I am, still stand against the life forever. The most important person in my life is my family. they are the first person who support me to live, until I know my destiny. I love them more than I love myself. And for now, I want to give a something to my parents as my grateful thanks because they make my life wonderful. If they are beside me, gold and wealth is no use. The sky will always blue and the sea will always calm.
And the most important, I live to do my duty as a Muslim! I will always pray to my beloved God because I live in this world! This is the purpose of my life! And I think there will be more purposes during I spend my life ~time by time~!

To answer more Yahoo questions than anyone else in the whole world. I know it's a lofty goal, but I believe I have the power and have dedicated my life to being the "last man standing" on this site.

I am here to raise my kids, live the motions of life, and die. There really is no reason to be here, but if I live to be the best person I can be, maybe I will be rewarded in the afterlife. Developing wisdom and peace within myself are my biggest goals.

I'm 58 and I'm just now beginning to understand why I'm here. One of the reasons is to answer questions here on Y/A. I am old enough and have enough life experiences to answer questions intelligently. Also, I was married for 22 years and my ex divorced me for his pregnant g/f or we'd still be married and I would still think I was happy. It took our divorce to prove otherwise to me. One night not long after our divorce I totaled my Jeep and was carried to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville TN. On the gurney next to me was a young guy, about 20, who had tried to commit suicide. I heard him tell the doc that his g/f of 2 years had dumped him to go back to her abusive ex husband. I knew then I had to speak up and I told him about my divorce and the help I had received from a Divorce Recovery Group and I encouraged him to find that same kind of help in order to get through this break-up. I believe I wrecked my Jeep in order to be there that night for that young man. He seemed to take the things I told him to heart and promised me he would seek help. I hope he did and I sincerely hope I was instrumental in helping him want to go on living. I believe I made a difference. And that's why I believe most of us are here: To help others and to make a difference.
I also found a wonderful man who is now my Significant Other. I am also here to serve Him and make sure He is happy.

To do good, to lead a good life. I aspire to excellence. I hope for happiness but I understand there are no guarantees. I reject the mindless pursuit of pleasure as an illusory solution to living.

My mum always said I had been put on this earth to care for people and animals who could not care for themselves. Think she must have been right because I can't just turn my back on someone needing help, and as for animals, well, all the ones I have had have all needed special care. Must say though I find it very rewarding to help anyway I can.

I really believe I was put on earth to make people laugh. Many people tell me that I make their life a bit brighter and that makes me feel good.
I know I was not placed here for my musical abilities, that would bring tears.

My purpose in life:
(Most important one): Westminsters Shorter Catechism (dunno how it's spelt) No. 1 asks: What is the chief end of Man?
My purpose in life is its answer: To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
Second most important one (my own personal one): To do something important (like writing a book or making a musical composition). I just feel like I'm born to do something important. Don't we all?

If you had asked me a year ago I would have said, " I was born to murder the world". Yet, now I realize,I cannot kill what is already dead. I exist in a world that matters not, I live to enjoy the final days which you mindless puppets have left.
