not crazy, and still has a sense of humor =) I like the title..... she is a mother who can't protect her scared children from what she cannot see, and I left her a comment.

I read the whole article and I do believe the children first off. Children are Innocent and they see way more than us adults do. If I were the parents I would have gotten someone in that home right away and to put a scared little girl into a room when you the adult know that something is in the house and especially when a child begs for a parent to stay with them and then leave them alone is not a wise decision. How would she have like it if someone did this to her?
For the sake of the children get someone who knows how to investigate and has done it for more than 1 or 2 years and actually knows what they are doing.
I got to see my first ghost when I was 5 years old and it hasn't stopped yet and at age 16 I was given Sensitive Powers which I still have and it has grown in strength. I don't misuse any gifts I call them now on anybody. Luckily I had Parents and Grandparents who were wonderful and never told me it was my imagination or anything negative. As I got older I learned that both sides of my parents had these same gifts. I be live it is haunted not because of what the mom had to say but the children.

if everything is true, what she is saying... then by all means find some one to come out to the house and investigate....i only wish we had help out there many years ago, when hauntings would happen, i can feel the terror in those girls...when i was a child i would become extemely depressed when it would almost be night time, and believe me day time was just as bad, but at least i could leave the house and go play at a friends house, but soon as dinner time came and i had to go home, my night mares would start....i only wished there was someone who could of helped me years ago, we couldnt even talk about it....if this story is true, they are not crazy....and the thing that people always shrug it off as the childs imagination, is so frustrating, specially for the child, or children....i dont know why but children can pick up more than adults, and its always past off as a childs imagination...

It is hard to tell from her story. Many times when investigating you find that the reality is not the same as the story you first was told. when asking hard questions and direct questions people realize it did not happen exactly that Way. I can't say her house is haunted or if they are crazy. it could be either. I would like to believe it is haunted but I am not close enough to do an investigation myself.
I would prefer she do some research herself and investigate the house here self. the so called professionals are merely weekend hobbyists which is fine but they do not know anything more than the average person except they have learned the techniques of ghost investigation from their favorite organization.
I psychically shuddered when she said she wanted reputable paranormal investigators. I guess they are all reputable as far as not committing any crimes or violating laws, but sadly too many people have called a so called professional and the end up with photos of dust particles as proof of their ghost.

I have read the article and it is so often that people contact me with "Am I crazy, or is this really happening?" Whether it is paranormal or if everything that is happening can be explained natually is something that she will need to let qualified indiviuals who investigate claims of the paranormal answer for her. But I will say that based on the age of the home, the history and the reports of activity there is certainly something going on there and she is not crazy.

Well, "feeling creepy" is all the evidence I require. Case closed--it's haunted. But then I'm not a Virgo.
This woman is surprised her daughter sees ghosts after watching Ghost Hunters? Shocking! Children usually aren't at all impressionable. (And then she tells her that her eyes are just playing tricks on her.)
The younger daughter cries when she has to go to her room or to bed? Another surprise! Children normally react very positively to being punished and having to go to bed.
This woman is a true believer and is leading her children into providing testimony to support her beliefs. What a shame. Her magical thinking will no doubt make her daughters reject reality and think the same way.
EDIT: I assume "or are they crazy" is rhetorical so I did not address this part of the question.

Since this is the Science & Mathematics section and none of the YA debunkers (as usual) provided a science based answer allow me to clear up one confusion first. Crazy is not a legal concept (Insanity is a legal concept). Also Crazy is not a mental health diagnosis. Thus since the concept "Crazy" does not exist in mental health or the law you can decided for yourself (since it's just opinion) if the family is crazy.
There is no way to know if a house is haunted without first defining what "haunted" means. Investigators may very well have a different definition than what the family considers haunted. What seems to be happening is the family is experiencing unexplained (at least to them) activity in their home (provided they are not lying). The family has interpreted this as activity of a haunting.
It reads like there may be mixtures of normal explanations (children crying and being afraid to be alone in their room) and perhaps some unexplained activity.
There is no way to know what is happening unless one investigates the situation. Unfortunately most activity does not take place in front of investigators so one is left with the story of the family and trying to replicate (by normal means) the reported activity.
So, what is true is the family is expriencing what they consider haunting activity.
Also, just like the haunting no determination of any family members mental health can be diagnosed without a mental health evaluation.

well since they are within driving distance for TAPS. They need to call Jason and Grant? I dont know what your wanting us to say here. There is no way for anybody in here to do anything but say, yeah, its a good haunting story.I cant verify the story, I live in Colorado. Nor can I deny the story. It is just that a story on a blog. They haven't contacted the media that they mentioned, and they are asking or help on a blog site. So who knows.

Sounds haunted, but so does every 150 year old house. Until that house is investigated by "professionals", they really just have a good spooky story. I wouldn't label them as crazy, they just can't explain what is going on in their house (according to the claim)

Well many houses are said to be haunted. She needs to call in a team of paranormal researchers and let them see if they can capture anything on film or tape. It is also reported that children or teenagers seem to have more activity going on around them. Who really knows what is going on until some research is done.
