I'd like to see great films by the masters-Ozu, Kurosawa, Fukasaku, Ichikawa, Naruse, Suzuki, et al, the way they were intended to be seen on the big screen.

There is no theater dedicated to such classic Japanese movies in Tokyo. Sometimes a mini-theater screen Ozu, Kurosawa, Fukasaku, Ichikawa, Naruse, Suzuki, Mizoguchi etc. as a speciall week or so but once or twice a year. You have to check a magazine like PIA, Tokyo Walker, or Web site every week so that you won't miss the program.

If you search other theater in Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, a posibility goes up.

Check the local libraries-- there are usually so many of them, so I am sure you can find more than one in the neay by area that you are staying.

It is an idea to search for an event like that in magazines or newspapers around Tokyo, but it will be very difficult. Since many libraries are dedicated to the culture and great people of Japan, I think you will have a better chance finding some this way. And if you go to one library, most likely they have some info about other libraries too. Or maybe you will get lucky and run into a library that has a big screen "watch-room" where you can take the movies and watch it all by yourself on a big screen!

Good luck!
