It would decrease, although you would still have difficulties with smuggling illegals into the US.
I think a combination of a wall along with troops that are brought back from overseas to guard unwalled spots and man checkpoints would be a good start.
The ironic thing from what I understand is that as much as Mexico opposes these steps on the US border, it basically does the same thing with its borders with Latin American countries.

probably not. Im sure immigrants will still find ways around. Through smuggling and bribery but as far as a nationwide problem like we have now....i dont think so. This would never happen thought because Americans don't like to look like "bad guys"

Thats not the answer, but there does need to be stricter laws and be enforced. Come to the country to live, but do it through legal channels. Its a slap in the face to those who do, and you are not special if you are here illegally. No special favors. Do it right or stay out, thats how it is!
